Well Discovery is less than 6 hours away from launch launch chances due to weather have actually improved and the countdown is at the T-3 hour hold mark. However a thruster heater problem has arose and is being worked as we speak, Hopefully everything will go on schedule today and things are still moving toward an ontime launch.

The countdown has restarted after the 3 hour hold at T-3 hours. The shuttle crew is now boarding Discovery and weather is currently a go and the chances for launch weather wise continue to improve.

Launch is currently back to no go for weather preparations are still ongoing in hopes the weather will clear in time.

Well todays launch attempt has been scrubbed due to weather concerns, The count will be recycled for a 24 hour turn around launch now scheduled for 3:26 pm est sunday july 2

Discovery is once again a no go for today. They are going for a 48 hour turn around and the new launch date and time is July 4th at 2:37:51 p.m. EDT,

Launched today... my friend from camp saw it... would have loved to see her launch.

i had a friend there for launch today he says it was one of the most beautiful things he's ever seen, seeing that im going to be in florida next year i hope to make it to a launch it would be awesome

Well as beautiful as the launch was there was some definate foam shedding right after SRB seperation that was clearly visible on the tank camera. Atleast 3 visibl pieces fle off though they looked like they missed the wing. NASA says they dont believe it wioll cause any problems but they are reviewing launch footage and images sent to the ground by the crew of the ET after seperation. The real test to see if there was any damage will be tommorow when the deploy the sensor boom and scan the fuselage with it.
