12 Day Camp, 2006

I guess this I kind of early, but does anyone think they are going to extend Advanced Space Academy next Summer?

I would be there if only
a) I were still 18 or under
and
b) I had the money.

Neither of these is likely to happen, so, you know... I'll just have to try very hard to get them to pay me to stay even longer, if you know what I mean.

actually, as a camper, i thought going at the end of the season was best, but now, after having been a counselor, i think going at the beginning of the season is probably better... In the beginning, the summer counselors are still fresh, and not cynical and tired. By week 48, more than half the counselors have left to go back to school, and those who remain are overworked and exhausted.

but those are just some thoughts. it's your choice, obviously.

I'm too old so i wont be going. :( Probably wont be working there this summer unless some miraculous change happens in my schedule... In short i wont be going to camp at all lol. I have gone during all the seasons and i think my favorite tends to be right at the peak of summer. So many people and so many things to do... Though the time i went in september was fun too. I think it all just depends on the type of environment you like the best.

I have gone at the beginning of the season (late May), in the middle (first week of July) and at the end of the season (the first of August, right after international week) and the best time to go in my opinion is in the first half of the season. When I went in August it was still great but earlier is better.

I have been in July and September/October and I think that October is the best time to be at camp. I come from a small town, so the crowds of people don't thrill me so much. I did find that in October our teams were smaller, we grew closer as a group, and were allowed to do more things than in the summer. I guess it all depends on who your counsellors are, who your teammates are, and how flexible management is at the time. Don't get me wrong though, summer was a great time to go! I am hoping to go back with my husband to the 8-day adult camp in October 2007. He doesn't know it yet... but I'll manage to twist his arm somehow!

I've always gone towards the end of June/beginning of July, so I don't know that I had a preference on when to go. That's just always when it worked out with my family's schedule. I'm too old to go this summer, but I'm hoping to apply for a job there instead. We'll see. I'm only a frosh, but I'll have my 61 credits by the end of next semester.

I am also hoping to work there this summer. I am going to beg and plead as much as possible, plus I'll try to get good references from some of my now-higher-up (ish) former counselors. And if not, I will be applying to Turkey, so it's all good.

talk with the managers of space camp, and see if you can convince them to tell Marion to hire you because you were a camper. I know that former campers get priority over non-Sprocket-related people.

i've never been to camp in the summer, but i've always enjoyed smaller teams and more flexibility withthe schedule that the off-season has allowed.
