AC on The Amazing Race

Post by Repeat »

To any of the campers who went to AC this past summer, you'll see some of the counselors you know on the Oct. 11th episode of The Amazing Race - Clips has a face shot, and Klutz and Stumps are the voice of the centrifuge...

And really - no one calls the Barn (Hab 3) the "Edward O. Buckbee Hangar" - I laughed when I saw that sign.

I only knew because there's a sign over the door that says "Edward O. Buckbee Hangar"... But I've never EVER heard it called that by ANYONE...

I was puzzled by the name also.

Actually, I was rather disappointed by the challenge at AC. Anyone can ride the centrifuge to 3.2G in one try, so I don't see how it was a 'challenge' other than to take up time and put teams in some sort of running order. I would have made them complete a task in the 'fuge while it was at 3.2G - pin the tail on the donkey or something.

Oh well, I got to see Space Camp and AC again, even if it was a very small bit, which completely made my night!

those of us who worked there all thought it was ridiculous - but they had airsick bags all over the place, and I suppose the "challenge" was whether or not they were physically fit enough to ride it - and in running the simulator over the summer, there were probably (outta everyone who rode it) maybe five people max that I know of who had problems with it - a couple have thrown up, one had problems breathing at 3.2 Gs...

Not like Aviation Challenge was mentioned by name...

I was thinking the same thing. I pretty much thought it was an awesome privilege to ride it rather than a challenge. I asked a friend who got to watch it if any of them even looked scared and he said no. Oh well at least AC got some television coverege.
