I am hoping that someone, particularly counsellors (Vincent?), can help me with this one...

I am compiling a scrapbook of all my photographs and memories from my recent trip to US Space Camp. While I can remember most things, some escape me. (Partially because I never knew in the first place!)

What are the (2004) names of all the 'stations' in Area 51?

I only know of one, the Nuclear Fence.

The five unknown (unnamed) stations are:
- ropes and bucket
- double tubes
- harnesses on a wire
- planks on bricks
- railroad ties

I can tell you what we called them at AC if you want, but I don't know the Space Camp names for them.

Any names are better than no names. If you call one of them the 'Nuclear Fence' then I am sure the others will be similar.

Aside: I never knew Aviation Challenge used Area 51, although it makes perfect sense. Is it used in the Mach III programme?

It was used in the M2 and M3 programs. The M2 had less constraints on time and talking. The main thing that was consistant is if the team did not finish in the allotted time, we went ahead and ended the obsticle and gave feedback on what was going right and wrong.

Well the 2 tubes were called double trouble
harness and wire- saving major woody
planks on a brick- well we never actually had a name for them, we just kind of told the kids that the plane crashed and that's all that was left.

I believe the twin tubes was called 'Double Trouble' for the Space Camp too. Funny, that was the challenge for which I was team leader, and I even forget its name!

If anyone else can recall the names for the various stations in Area 51, please let me know.

- double tubes -- Tubular Trouble
- harnesses on a wire -- (Medical) EVAC
- planks on bricks -- Confused Muse
- railroad ties -- Not sure which one you mean. Could be Group Slalom or Commando Crossing.

I dont think AC ever had an official name for the lil block/railroad ties you walk across. It was a bridge and your a team of commandos that had to cross it -- so I called it Commando Crossing.

In training we were "told" make up a convincing AC/military story that matches the one for SC. *shrug*
