Does anybody know Joel's middle name? Does it start with a T? There is a J.T. Walsh in The Clent. My guess, though, would be that Jol had a small (walk-on, probably) role and isn't big enough to be listed in the cast on a description of the movie, which is what we'd need to find it ourselves (unless he's on the cover and we go look at every movie in Wal-Mart.

J.T. Walsh was a brilliant actor in such films as Pleasantville, Breakdown, and the Negotiator, to name but a few.

He's dead now though.

Oh, OK. Foot now in mouth. We do need to find out what movie he was in, though. Also, we (and by that, I mean Sara, since she knows him the best) should probably try to get in touch with him to tell him to see Arlisa before he goes. Or, we (Sara) and take the approach of calling Arlisa and asking her to have Joel sign it.

Haha, I asked him. He has yet to reply. I can call Arlisa later....my grandfather is in the hospital though so it may take a bit...

I think I speak for all of us when I say that your grandfather is more important. We'd appreciate it if you have the time, but don't neglect your family.

I hope your grandfather gets better. I agree with Benji.

well since everyone seems to be curious, it turned out to be a gall bladder issue whatever that means. he is getting it removed in a couple of days. he has already had two open heart surgeries, so yeah no more of that.

I see i spawnd a number of responses. Dave was the week long daytime manager prior to moving to weekends to take over my shift.

The answers to the questions most pondered by you peoples:

The tv show--Nick Cannon show and Discovery Kids were the most recent--plus too many others to mention all space and space camp related of course-i even have a copy of me dubbed in japanese.

the movie--Sleepers. You gotta wait till the very end and my name is carved in the bench in big huge letters--i know (or at least have met) all the kids in the movie and they promised to put me in it--so they asked the set designer and artistic director if they could graffiti the bench and they said "ok" so there you go--now if you ask any of the current staff they would say i was in Planet of the Apes--now how rude is that?

Ok today is my last day--gonna put the lobster in the car, the bag of office supplies i stole and my foshizzel outa hizzel.
The grumpy one.

I just got back from my first weeks without Joel... It was very sad... They tried, but they just didn't do his speeches quite as well as he did - no one can replace Joel. They skipped three parts - what to do if Hab 1 is on fire AND there's bad weather, the age 19 tobacco Alabama law, and the public displays of annoyance...
My very first year at SA, back in 1998, he was there, and one of the girls I met the first day, told me "That's Joel. He's hilarious." And he really was - every year, he cracked me up. In 2001, I was there for my 16th birthday, and he even signed my pillow case ("this is now worth a bajillion dollars because it's your birthday. Joel")
I definitely missed him this year, and I'm sure everyone who knew him (or knew of him) missed him too.

Well I must admit that the speeches were a little on the dry side this year. Not that they weren't funny, but its like Soccer said....nothing can replace Joel. There weren't even any wisecracks about the people from Alabama!

I thought I saw him in some recent pictures from camp... Is he there just for the summer session or is he back for good? I cannot imagine what camp would be like without Joel! (Of course I would still have fun, but Joel puts the frosting on the cake!)

"We put the fences up around Space Camp to keep the crazy Alabamans out!"

I recall one time when all my flights home were cancelled due to bad weather. I begged Joel to let me stay at camp until the weather cleared up but he had some strange story that left me in tears from laughing so hard. Something about staying in HAB II with a gazillion little kids. Meanwhile some other counsellor went to the booking desk and got me onto some other flights. :(
