Smiley was talking about having fiber optic lighting for enterprise so that every 45 mins (especially on the edm) the lighting would change and it would go from dark to light.

Its not just Enterprise its going to be for the whole training center. Its part of the new renovations to the training center. ?Which eventually will be totaly enclosed.

Ok, I didn't understand what you were talking about at first. That goes along with the whole 45 min. orbit right?

Right the lights will go up and down just like you were orbiting the earth every 45 minutes the lighting will change.

But then wouldn't all of the missions start at the same time, or would each sim have its own lighting system. I don't know if I like the idea of stuff on the TCF being fully enclosed. Its such an open atmosphere.

Missions dont have to start at the same time because they are running independent of eachother and the lighting will go up and down every 45 minutes on a standard time thing so just because your mission just got to orbit doesnt mean it will be 45 minutes before it changes. I mean depending on when you launch in real life determines when youll encounter your firsr sunrise or sunset. And to do that they have to enclose the training center but the plans show there will still be a place for people outside the training center to view it through a window.

Yeah, that makes sense. I would like for there to be some way for people to see you. I have always liked to do a little dance in cargo bay attached to my harness when people wave at me.

Well you might beable to wave at other people doing EVA's in other parts of the training center. Just remember that most of the training center will be dominated by the space station so it might block views of other EVA's

That giant space station that now lives in the middle of the TCF is so big, you can't really see too much of anything else. I mean, the station we use for Enterprise is big, but it isn't in the middle of everything.

Well eventually according to the plan all the space station stuff will be connected and all the orbiters will be connected to it.

Wait, I don't understand how the giant piece of space station in the middle of the TCF is going to magically be connected to something else. Have you seen this thing? It is huge and it looks like it only has one way to get in it. Trust me, during all my missions when I was out in cargo bay, I could hear them drilling and sawing and making noise to finish that thing.

No i havent seen it personally or in pictures but i have seen the plans. And they call for having connecting tunnels between all the modules and the orviters as well as the MOCR's. they want you to be totaly emersed in the experiance so that the only time you leave that huge complex would be for EVA's. I know we have a diagram of the plans somewhere here on the hab. Try under the older announcements that are no longer on the front page of the sight. I know thay had it in an announcement sometime.

I am still trying to figure out how that would work. It isn't like you really leave Enterprise or anything. But they want to connect that to the Station? The only time you switch is after lunch....

They want to have tunnels going to all of the shuttle hatches except from what i could see the deep space mission sims. Everything else would be connected though. Look at the diagram it makes it preyyy clear when you look at it.

Will all of the orbiters be connected to one station?

With the exception of the deep space ones i think so. Remember this isnt going to be several space stations like it is now. Its going to be a huge interconected station complex with several modules including a habtation module to eventually allow the return of 24 hour missions. Several missions can be going on at the same time using the same complex.

That is a lot of stuff to fit on the TCF. So how long will it take before it is all done. Man I remember when ALL of the sims were on the tcf. so long ago. I remember the mars bubble too.

They said it would take 3 years to complets its all being done inphases. The diagram of the new design shows you what will be done when during the project.

The diagram I saw on the TCF when I was there in March had it all color coded and stuff, and I think it mentioned somethign to the effect of three years. That really stinks because I will be "an adullt" in three years. I can only hope that I get away with it at 19.

I got it away with it at 19. Just tru yo register before your 19th birthday but even if you dont it doesnt really matter, Ive had counselors say alot of people still go to youth programs at 19.
