Well after camp i kept in touch with one person from the team who was my closest friend at camp and my night time counselor. The friend i stayed in touch with till about 1994 but his intrest change4d and he later had some serious mental problems. The counselor i stayed in touch with till 1999. He was still working at space camp after all those years just in a new position. And every time i went back to space camp i not only saw him but he recognised me. Unfortunately he left in early 99 and i lost his mailing address and his email address i had was no longer good since it was a space camp address. I stayed in touch with all of my roomates from Space Academy level 1 for a few years afterwards and talked to a couple of them in more recent years but weve now lost touch. As for my Aviation Challenge team i some how lost all their affresses except 1 about 3 yeqars ago. I still have contact with 1 girl from the team. and ocasionally i manage to track down one of the guys through his cousn that i met online. Unfortunately the rest ive lost touch with . That ealy sucks since we were a verry close team. As for my ASA team i'm still in touch with most of them and have frequent contact through the internet and send christmas cards to them each year.

That's pretty cool. I hope to do better in keeping in contact with the next group I potentially get.
When I went to Academy in 1991, I happened to see the Night Councelor I had for Camp. Unfortunately I couldn't talk to him because he was on another team and we rarely saw them, but it was interesting to see that he was still working there.
Ahh well.

Natchal Brand was the counselors name I had in 1989 that I saw in 1991.
My 1991 counselors name was Vince Autry and Leann Patterson.

That is freakin' awesome. You had a kid, freckled faced, brownish hair on your team named Keith. I met him in line for Registration. I can't remember his last name though. I remember telling him he was real lucky because *I* wanted to be on Martin Marietta because that's the team I was on for Camp. But, BDM was the video team so... that's where I went
Anyway, yes, I have the picture. It's hanging on my wall actually.
I was on BDM team.

Well thats cool that you were both their at the same time. I missed you guys by about a month. Ofcourse i was at camp that year not academy level 1. Maybe Vince should create a special ranking for the three of us the old fogies of the hab forum.

I hope she replies soon! I'd really like to locate her picture on my photo. I've NEVER ever run across anyone who went the same time I did. That's just too cool.

The boy you talked to was Keith Clement. But I'm confused....Martin Maritta *was* a video team. I have the video sitting on my shelf. Anyway, to the photo. I'm not sure you'll have the same one I do, as there were a ton of us there, and I think they took a few photos that day. Our teams may not have been together. But I'll do my best to describe it to you. The sign says "Week 24" and there are two black, guy counselors on either side of it. On either side of them are the two women counselors. I'm sitting at the left corner of the sign. My roomate is on the other side of it with a space between us. I have shoulder-length blond hair. That is so neat that we were there at the same time. Are you planning to go to Adult ASA any time soon? I wonder if that would be a first? Two teens who were at SA at the same time 11 years ago, going back as adults.

Okay, so far you described what I have. The second black councelor on the left of the sign was mine - Vince Autry. I"m not sure about the other ones though. Strangely enough, I'm not sitting that far away. I'm on the top right row right next to the sign - just to the right of the woman counselor also on the right. (I'm to the left of the geeky kid with glasses)
Funny you should mention ASA. I had just said something in another forum that we should all do a session next year. I was (and am) looking at ASA sessions for next year. I am definately interested if you'd want to go!!
Richasi
I'll go back....

Found ya'! ::shakes head in wonder:: What are the chances? Anyway, I'm up for next year if financial problems don't shut down the Huntsville location too. I think it would be awesome to have a group of us go. I've been trying to get Jason (LB206) to go back for a couple of years now. Start saving your money! Anyone else want to join us? If we can get 18 people we can have our own team. Now we just need a name....

I know. I'm beside myself. Giddy in fact. I'd yell out a "Woohoo!", but I'm at work now so I don't think that'd be taken too kindly.
I also asked Mr. LB206 there but he said he couldn't go.
How about Vince? Anyone else?
*bouncies happily*

nope! I can't make it during any of those dates for Adult ASA...
...Plus I *may* try to get a job as a counselor there next summer, so that would be my Space Camp adventure for the year!

Well hopefully atleast some of us can go next year. As for the financial problems i dont think the camp is in anywhere near the danger that Florida is. The space and rocket center still does decent business and with florida closing its camp business as it is will shift to alabama.

I was never too excited about California or Florida. I understand they wanted to branch out but still... 40,000 people came from California that really took a lot of people away from Alabama.

Well lets hope alabama will still be opebn for a long time to come i think it will.

I'm sure it will. It's been around for a long time... I forsee it being there for a long time to come. AS long as kids and adults alike still look to the stars, there will be a place for Space Camp.
