I wish they offered videos for all the programs. Although at AC and ASA alot of the stuff you do would just be boring to watch on TV but it would be cool to have a tape of some of the activities at laeast.

Yeah in florida they offerd a video of your week for and extra 30 bucks now if alabama offerd that i would gladly pay for it but i imging it must be kinda hard to do with so many kids. And advice to and MS. If you are on the arm of enterprise make slow quick adjustments for horizontal movement or else you will just end up bouncing on the end of an arm a long ways off the ground lol.

Alabama use to offer videos for space camp and space academy. And having gotten videos the 2 first 2 years i can say its not a hard thing to do. If you order the video you get put on a team of people getting videos so it makes it easy to film. And their wasnt much time of each person doing the diffrent sims. Actually the videos only last about 30 minutes. Actually i was thinking today the Educator Resource center at the NASA Langley visitor center has a really old space camp video their from sometime in the 80's. Infact i think its the old training center. Since i have access to the educator resource center im going to go take a tape and make a copy of it. Its actually an old space camp promotional video from the 80s. I think it would just be a neat thing to have a copy of. I saw it years ago but had forgotten about it till today. I checked the ERC's video listings and aparently they still have it.

Vince if i had any clue how to do that i would do it in a heartbeat but to be honest i dont know how. Hopefully i will get to copy it this weekend sometime at the museum. If you know how to do it let me know and if i can i will.

im leaning towards the april 6-11th dates for advanced academy.
i really hope i can go..i think i will be able to.
im not sure if i will be able to miss a week of school but yeah.

Well the second year i went i missed school. My teachers didnt seem to mind much infact they thought it was cool. I was suprised my parents let me though.

I heard that in Alabama if you go to camp during the school year, it doesn't even count as an absence!

...due to some sort of law stating something to the effect of, if something's educational, it's just as good as being in school!

I had never heard of that but it makes sense. Personally i think space camp is a better learning enviroment than school. I like the hands on approach.

last time i went i missed school but this time we have block scheduling so missing a week of school is really like missing two weeks of classes. so i dont know. i dont know if i can miss a week of softball either. we'll see and hope.

i agree though, space camp is a much better learning environment than school.

Thats one reason i hated block scheduling in high school. My 50 minute college classes seem so short compared to my 90 minute high school classes i had my last 2 years.

I remember once my parents had planned to send me to Space Camp in 1990 in the spring, which I would have missed school for but I think most of the teachers (if not all) were excited about it. In fact, when I went to Camp in 1989 my name got in the paper for going - weirdest thing.

Course, now that I'm in college (on the 20 year plan I think), the professors could care less. If everything works out for next September/October - I'll me missing some classes. And to that I say what the hell!

I remember when i went to camp in 91 my name got in the local paper too. I think the camp sent the names to the local paperws of campers. All mine said was that i had trained for a astronaut adventure at space camp in Huntscille Alabama the rest was an advertisement for the other programs.

I remembered where mine is... unfortunately I"m at work now. I'll try and find it when I get home tonight and type it in. I'm curious to know whether they're worded the same (or close). Because neither my teachers at the time (prior grade) nor my parents ever fessed up to doing it. That would also give an answer to an age old question

Well i9 got my new space camp brochure today and i must say i'm verry dissapointed. Its almost all in black and whit except for the cover. Their are no pictures for any of the programs and the program info is pretty generic. Infact their is verry litle diffrence in the info on each program. I know space camp's haviung financial problems but the quality of this years brochure isnt going to do anything to attract peoples attention. Most of the time the brochure just tells you to look for mor4e info on whe website.

"Leaf" has done a lot of good films lately. "Gladiator", "8MM"... I saw him in a movie called "Ruskies" (1987), which was pretty interesting. I thought it was good because I was a kid (and it is a kids type movie). Ever hear of it?

Good idea you get more camp info on the website than you do in the new brochure. As for leaf phoenix i saw him in gladiator and have heard of Ruskies but have never seen it.
