Well i could be wrong but i think BDM was the team name. Space Camp and Academy teams atleast use to be i dont know if they still are named after space camp sponsors. BDM use to be one of their sponsors again i dont know if they still are or not. Heck alot of the companies that use to be sponsors have now combined like lockheed and martin marietta. If you look at my signature you see Teledyne Brown and TRW after my first to session dates those were my space camp and space academy teams.

Ok if you wanted to know what BDM actually stands for other than a team name and a space camp sponsor here is information on the company from the 1993 Space Academy Level 1 log book.
BDM (Braddock Dunn MsDonald) International INC. Headquqartered in Virginia the company does systems analysis, propulsion, avionics, optics, radar technology, flight dynamics, and logistics work with Marshall it also worked on the Strategic Defense Initiative.
Unfortunately part of the page of the book is torn and i couldnt get the entire blurb of info but that gives you some idea. Again i dont even know if the company still exist but that was acurate as of 1993. And when Richasi went it was 1991 so that would have been close.

And we oughta have a Hab1.com patch or t-shirt to wear! What about it, Vincent???
heh...well, I'd be lying if I said the thought had never crossed my mind, as it'd be kinda cool to produce a t-shirt or a patch...though I sort of think such a thing would be out of place...I'm just a humble webmaster of a
very humble site.
...and given that I don't actually own the rights or have a lincense to the components of the logo...and Space Camp has been kind enough to let that slide, I don't want to rock the boat by slapping it on t-shirts. And really, when it comes down to it, I want (and my goal has always been) to promote Space Camp, not this site.
...not that it wouldn't be cool to do though!

Well it would be cool to have a tshirt or patch but you might be right it might be pushing copyrigts a bit with the current logo. And your humble website is growing bigger and biger. I've noticed in the last week alone the name of the newest member of the hab forum has been changing over and over so we keep getting new members.

Well one suggestion might be one of the large shuttle lithos they sell in the gift shop. We did that for one of our counselors in 98. I know we have some counselors here in the forum if they could arange to have it hung at the end of the year in MOCR or some other spot maybe and everyone who attends whos on hab 1 can sign it. Just an idea.

Well another suggestion is something we did for out other counselor and that was we all signed a space academy t-shirt. Or if we arrange it ahead of time the first person who goes this year after the plan is in place could create something for everyone to sign.

Starting a new thread might be a good idea this topic might go on for a while and we have definately gotten way off topic here. What was the topic anyway?

Since Jason answered your question (thank you!) I'll just add a little bit of trivia here. Do you know that it took me about 5 years after I attended Academy I to know what the BDM was? I had asked someone at the Center who told me that it was the initials of the three men who created the company, but he didn't know who they were. So, eventually after forgetting it and what not, I searched for BDM one time on my college's crappy text based internet computer and voila came up the names for BDM. I couldn't tell you how happy that made me

So, there ya go =)
Since BDM is now part of TRW I don't suspect there's a BDM team anymore. Sad really.

A poster/litho and even T-Shirt sound like a good idea. What about a big "Hab-1" Mission Patch? Anyone here a good artist? Then we can all sign it as we pass through and it would be someting unique to us - our own "mission" so to speak.
As much as the Camp/Academy logo would be nice to have displayed on the patch (or other decided upon medium) I don't know that it would fly with copyright considerations... but a mission patch with a "Special" Hab-1 logo on it might be quite nifty =)
Just my thought.

Well thats cool because i was on the TRW team at space academy. Although to be honest all i really know about them is they built the TDRS sattelites and did some work on the shuttle. Unfortunately the info on the company in my space academy log book is on the part of the page that some how got torn out.

LOL! Well, I do have a question then. Who are the sponsers of Space Camp now? Do they have their company logos on the application book? The reason I ask is beacuse half of the companies I remember are either gone or have merged with others - Boeing/McDonald Douglas, Lockeed/Martin Marietta, TRW/Teledyne Browne/BDM, Northrop/Grumman... *Sigh*

I went and looked at this years aplication book last night after the initial post and saw they dont list them anymore. I know when i was here in 98 they still had signs up for the individual companies many of which had merged but i don't know anymore. I remember they also use to have Apple Computers, and Coca Cola as sponsors as well. And years hat they had too many teams and ran out of sponsor names they use to have teams named after planets or the sun.

The signs are still up, but I don't think that they use them for team names anymore. Many are outdated.

Ok if they dont use sponsor names tor the camp and academy team names now what do they use? I know ASA uses the names of famous people from space history, Aviation challenge Mach 1 uses the names of world war 2 aircraft, Aviation Challenge Mach 2 uses the names of Modern fighter aircraft and as far as i know Mach 3 still uses the names of F-14 squadrons.
