:?: If they bring back the 24 hour missions how will the sleeping arangments be done. I know that I space there are two shifts. The problem is that how will the sleeping is going to be done in the Space Hab. Some beds on one side and others on the other side with a wall between them or what? Or do you have to stay up for 24 hours. Plus where will the Mission Control staff sleep?

im pretty sure my counselor said there were 4 shifts, 6 hours each. i dont know if everyone would sleep the same 6 hours then rotate to all 3 positions or what though. or where theyd sleep. hmm. maybe when everything is all re done theyll have a place or something. hmm..where did they sleep when they used to do the 24 hours missions a while ago?
i dont think i would be able to sleep if i did a 24 hour mission. id be too wired lol.

Well from what i read the new 24 hour missions the sleeping would be done in the hab module of the new space station complex. I guess it would be done in some type of shifts. From what someone i knew told me when she attended academy level 2 during a 24 hour mission week they slep it shifts and rotated through the diffrent places in shifts and for sleeping they just went back to the hab. I don't know exactly how the rotation worked because she was commander twice. If the shifts are in 6 hour incraments that would give you 6 hours in the shuttle, station, and mocr, and 6 hours to sleep. So the rotation doesn't make mucy sense that she had the same position twice but then like i said i dont know exactly how the rotation worked either. Oops come to think of it she said they only went to go sleep for 4 hours which would make sense and it would be possible to do a job more than once.

Anything?

So what is going on at Space Camp right now with the renvoations? I now that the summer as stoped for most kids, does this mean that they will start again. Plus if anybody can find a picture or scann of the layout that would be nice.

Greetings everyone.
Just wanted to give you all an update on some of our progress here at the MCC. This week was a groundbreaking week for the Sims. We tested an new piece of equipment for the EVA. Mounted on MS2's EVVA is a camera. We patched the wireless receiver into a line to MOCR. Now for the first time ever, the EVA officer can see exactly what MS2 sees. This is of great advantage in more ways than one. Now the EVA officer will be able to better instruct their crew on procedures and repairs. This will also benefit hearing impaired and visually impared trainees. You could sign in the camera to the EVA officer. If you were blind, the camera would act as your eyes for the EVA officer to see and give you instructions.
So far today the camera has been used in the 4 EVA's of the EDM's.
We did the last shake out test of the system yesterday and figured we had a good thing. I'm proud to say we turn out a great product. But you guys will be the best judge of that.
Cya at camp!

That's great news about the camera! I heard about it last week, but they weren't quite ready to try it out yet. I *did* get to try out the MS2 helmet lights. They are very cool! This was my first time doing the Superman harness, and I must admit that I got a little sick to my stomach the first time I "floated" over the cargo bay. My brain kept thinking I was going to fall. It got better with practice, but I was never totally comfortable with it. Give me the arm any day! :)

Well time for another update from the MCC.
The ISS Mission Control is starting to take shape and work on the first white room has officially began. The starfield will be up in a couple months and lighting control will be installed. We are doing it in such a way that we will be able to operate during upgrades. I will be taking a short break in a week and will devote that time to other activities but will return the following week to finish the EVVA's. So many projects so little time.
Man its awesome to build a piece of the big puzzle. EVA cam is operating to spec. So thats definately a go. Right now we have 2. One is a functional prototype the other is for Enterprise. DJ and I will probably get one ready for the micro g wall ;-) .
That would be a great EVA for it. The final power source for the EVVA system is still under development. Right now I got a few batteries on each helmet making up a power bus. The lights will operate for about 16 hours while the fan will last about 3. Ahh the fun.
All the departments are pulling together on this one and I see Phase 2 as a smooth one.
till next time

Seriously, this is so not cool... Everything cool happens as soon as I'm too old to go... I suppose I'll just have to work extra hard to get a spot as a counciler, then...

Hello everyone
It's time again for a TCF/MCC update. As I stated in my last update we have many new additions taking shape. Most notably a hydroponics module (which we are building inhouse) 2 white rooms, and an ISS MOCR. The foundations for the module and whiterooms are in place. One side of the station wall was built yesterday and looks pretty cool. ISS MOCR got a drop tile ceiling.
Today the Flag was taken down. Its fate unknown by me but i'm sure it will make an appearance somewhere in the future. The Earth was also taken down. It will be cleaned and raised back up in the same place.
Word has it that the new star curtains will arrive sometime next week. Not sure on an installation date though. Should look pretty cool once its up and turned on.
EVA suits are nearing completion. I'm looking to wrap that project up around Wednesday of next week. As it stands we will have 2 EVVA units equipped with cameras. One will be dedicated primarly to ASA Enterprise missions. The other will probably be used mostly with the Micro-G Wall but could possibly be used in other areas as well. All EVVA units will have the cooling and lighting system. I have installed switches on the forward left and right areas of the helmet mount ring so you guys can control your cooling and operate the lights.
Anyone here that may have used my Beta versions might remember having to have a counselor switch the controls. That has since been eliminated.
The camera can transmit over a broad range. We had it operate in the middeck, spacehab, airlock, and of course cargo bay. Since MS 1 is on the arm we decided to hardwire eveything for that EVVA system. If you are a MS1 you will have 2 plugs (one for audio the other for power).
As things progress I might snap a few pics and have them posted. I will try to get a few pics of the suit and EVVA.
Everything is going smoothly at this point and I just wanted to post a little info for you dedicated Camp fans.
We appreciate you.
Thanks
Smiley

Yes, we appreciate it very much. I can't wait! 24 days, 16 hrs, 5 min.

Okay, I know it's totally geeky, but this is Space Camp!!!

Is it going to aeffect us x-mas campers

:?: Is it going to aeffect us x-mas campers? Plus how are you guys going to make sure that the UAT does not aeffect the ISS MOCR because I think Steve said last year that he thinks the tank is acting like a electromagnet to the stuff that was perviously there.

The upgrades will have little effect on Christmas Camp. As far as hindering the teams. As for the electromagnet issue with the UAT, i'm not aware of one. We have had 2 computer labs in the rooms surrounding it for several years and I have yet to hear of problems caused by the tank.

I'm so excited! It's just sad that this will be my last trip for awhile since in turn 19 in Febuary and have to save up for university.
