Everything i've heard and read says the russians have had no dealings with him and that the story was just a rumor and nothing more.

Commenting on the name cosmonaut. Many americans would be suprised to learn that NASA considered using it for our astronauts. It was either going tobe astronaut or cosmonaut and we chose astronaut.

grr i think its stupid, it would be FUN to go to space, but if i ever do , i want to do it as an astronaut, work my way there, not pay a couple million dollars and go up with the russians. and i hate nsync

Well as a person who knows he'll never make it into the astronaut program because of medical reasons. I would pay the 20 million if i had it and could afford it. Some people mainly older ones know they cant make it into the astronaut programbecause of career choices or other things so this is one way they can go. I Really dont think sending them to the ISS at this stage is a good idea though. If they could just be launched into orbit on a soyuz it would be one thing. The soyuz does have an orbital module with room to move around. and that would be an experiance by itself but the ISS is still too new.

do not forget programs such as the X-prize that will open oportunities for private citizens to go into space on commercial spacecraft. in the future, people will be able to visit space(for the right price, of course!)

Unfortunately a winner for th3 x prize is still nowhere in sight. And i think it will be quite a few years before we have regular comercial space tourism.

well the xprize winner is still a ways away but there needs to be a bigger demand for space tourism. If corporations see a market, they will act. we need to show them that there is a market. the xprize is one way of doing this. But i was more a fan of the CATS prize, as it is one for amateur rocketry, and that is a field in which i am involved. I have always wanted to build my own spaceship and go to space!!
