Well i registered this morning sop i am definately goinf hope we can get some more intrest sop the camp will happen if not guess i'll just go down for the weekend either way i plan to be there for the events.

Sorry mates, I will not be attending this time, not even for part of a day. My vacation time is tied up in a trip to Scotland the following week. Last year was fun, for what I participated in, so I hope you have a great time again this summer!

I have a huge trip planned already for May and 2 other weddings I have to take a few days off of work for. So I highly doubt I can go.

Maybe the 3rd year will be a charm though and I can go next year!

That does sound like a substandard schedule...I figured that they would have made some improvements over last year. Unfortunatly, I really don't have any other options open this year since the adult academies are long. Ohh well, I know Jason and I can find more than enough to do for three days!

Well guys the schedule may not be up to what people were hoping. But to me it looks more like a normal adult academy weekend except we get the luncheon with Story Musgrave and the other two events. Now think of it this way to go down there for just the Hall of Fame and apollo saturn reunion and stay at the marriott and paying for food you would probably pay nearly as much and not have the other stuff to do. I went to both of these events last year and had a blast. Remember last year's Hall of fame was normally 100 dollars a person by itself with this its included in the cost of the camp. Last year's apollo Saturn reunion had 3 astronauts a former NASA administrator and and countless men and women who worked on Apollo. its a chance to meet the people who made the space history we all know so well. I know there was atleast 1 member of the original Von Braun rocket team there as well.
So before we get down on the schedule remember it is still space camp. It is still the place we all love and there are three great events that wouldnt normally be part of an adult weekend that cost the same price.
As for trying to get a bunch of people to go down for an advanced academy week not all of us can afford the money or the time to do that. Though i would like to someday.

Oh I have no doubt you guys will have an awesome time!

If I had the extra time off I would definitely consider it seriously. Honestly...I know Sarah and I would never pass up some extra time with Hoot!
One of you better bring Space Camp Barbie! hahaha!

The schedule is not the reason I'm not attending...Financially I am really strapped this year. I've started flying lessons and that takes a big chunk out of the pocket.
I would love to attend the weekend and the inductions, but I just can't swing it. THOUGH I AM attending the Astronaut Hall of Fame Inductions in May here at KSC.
Maybe I can pass off Space Camp Barbie to Hoot that weekend and he can bring her up to Jason and Kale! I know he's attending

Well hopefully Jenny M and her husband will also be attending and i have passed on the info to other alumni i know as well so hopefully we can get a good group together for this. I hate that you guys cant make it this year last summer was a blast. But it will also leave room open to meet other new alumni and introduce them to Hab 1 as well. I actually have my boss here at the Langley visitor center working on hgetting Hoot up here for Space Day in May hopefully that works out.

i can't afford the Alumni Camp this year either, but I will drive down for the festivities that weekend like I did last year. Hope to see all of you there!

I'll have to clear it with my old lady, but I'm sure I can convince her to let me escort the world famous Space Camp Barbie back to Huntsville;thats if she will have me, of course! lol. I'm sure she's just going to want to hang out with Hoot all the time anyway, no time for us regular mortal folks.
Funny you mentioned flying lessons, I seriously considered finishing my private license after the alumni academy, but as much as I like flying, I couldn't figure out what I would do with the license after I got it especially with aircraft rental and avgas as expensive as it is. Let me know how its going for you.

Yes! I would definitely send her your way for camp! She would love to attend again. But no worries...I'm sure she wants to participate in the festivities rather than chill with Hoot. Though maybe after KSC, she'll be known among the Astronaut alum. Though that could be a bad thing. They see SCB and run for the hills.
Off Topic:
On a serious note, I'm starting to wonder the same thing about my lessons. The thing is, my instructor committed suicide in December and I've only been up once with my new instructor. But I have some of the same thoughts of "What am I gonna do with this when I've got it?". If anyone is interested I've been blogging here about it here:

So I did some research on the missions and here is what i found out. The sims floor is reporting that while they are shorter, these mission formats are new and intended for adult participants with more challenging anomalies and EVA's. Also the orbiters are not set in stone and may change before then. Hope that information comes in handy for you all. We are looking forward seeing you all in July!!

I was talking to Jason about this very thing actually. I was really glad to hear about the missions being on Enterprise. Even on my first trip to Space Camp way back when I was a little kid I always was facinated by the sim, I guess it was because of the size and the possibility of an EVA in the full size payload bay. I believe that sim would have been the only time I would have wanted to be a M/S or P/S rather than in the left or right seat.
So as it happened last year, I was dying to see the ole school Omnimax films and it actually happened for last years alumni academny, maybe I'll get lucky two years in a row and we could have some really tight mission in Enterprise... hint hint. But seriously it would be awesome to have a mission with a little longer duration possibly lasting later in the night since we don't have a bed time. If we have any staff volunteers to extend the mission, I'd be glad to provide adult beverages for later that night on the house.

Any word on if the quality of the food will improve? On all of my Adult Academies we had different rations (read as "edible") from the regular campers. I'm hoping that's what the increased cost is for.

I'll consider the Alumni camp this year - it'll kill me if I can't go - but I'm already going to Japan/Korea this year (in November), just came back from Mexico, Seattle in May and maybe Chicago for July 4th. I dunno if I can AFFORD another trip.
I'll put it on my radar and see how things are financially closer to time...

at the last alumni camp, we ate the same exact food as the young kids. the only thing different was that we were allowed to have coffee
