Hmmm, Hab 1 is the one I prefer.
However, I do have some interesting memories in Hab 2. (3 years ago? It seems so long...)

We girls like our privacy :P So (I'm not sure if this is commonplace but...) all of the top bunk girls used towels to make personal 'rooms' around each top bunk. (They hooked them onto the ceiling, thus creating 'walls').

So when I walked in on the second day, there were towels all over the place. it looked silly, but my bunkmate swore it muffled the snoring of the girl across the room :P

Good times, good times

Haha, well, I don't need THAT much privacy. I like to have it when I shower, but otherwise, sleeping I don't care.

And I counter snoring with earplugs! ;)

Question: If you wear earplugs to silence someone snoring how do you hear your alarm in the morning?

I've actually had very few problems hearing my alarm with ear plugs in. I think part of it is that the ear plugs that I wear (generally the little foamy ones that I get at work) don't completely block all noise, they just cut it down to a lower level. The beeping of my watch (what I use for an alarm clock when I'm not at home) seems to get through the ear plugs just fine...or at least enough to wake me up. The only times I have had problems is if I'm really tired, wearing ear plugs and my arm with my watch on it ends up under my pillow. I'll still wake up to the alarm...most of the time. But there have been a few occasions when I've slept through it.

Of course, this may also be because I am more of a morning person and noises in the morning, particularly beeping type noises not more than an hour or so before my normal wake-up time, tend to wake me up very easily.

I've only been in Hab 1, but it was great! All moth before I went I was hoping to get Hab 1. Only problem, you can't get a good cell phone signal in your room, and they're a little too strict about going to a different level than yours. My little group was just trying to pay each other back for money we had borrowed from each other during the day, and they wouldn't let a boy anywhere near a girl's room!

the towel thing sounds kind of cool!

Wish they'd do more with the showers though. i would much rater wait for a more private shower than get a rather open one quickly!

Well the guys in girls rooms and vice versa is a rukle for counselors and trainees alike. As for showers most all are private now.

...for adults, even though they only used to (it's been a long time since I stayed in the Hab) put us three to a room. My memories were: the doors were all designed to slam as loudly as possible, the blankets and pillows were inadequate, the beds were short. They were hard too, but I like a firm mattress.

For kids, it was a lot nicer than the summer camp I went to.

Still, for team building purposes, it's nice to have your whole team in one place, and there were some big walls where we could hang up our full sized cockpit layouts and practice ascents and entries.

Oh yeah, and the hab rooms are really stuffy during the day, but they turn freezing cold at some point during the night. Bring extra blankets...or go swipe extras from the linen area...i had an extra one that i brought and i swiped an extra, and i was still freezing!

I didn't know it was possible to get (or swipe) more blankets. I have never had a problem, though. I can't stand sleeping when its hot, but I don't mind the cold.

LOL, since we were the adult group, they did anything we wanted to accommodate us. We just wandered over by the linens area to pick up some extra blankets and pillowcases and a lady asked us what we were looking for and just gave them to us.

I'll definetly have to remember that. Even with all my charm, I'm not sure an Academy kid could pull it off :P

Nah, I think if you ask nicely and they have some available they will accommodate.

I was in bay 205, I couldn't sleep, everyone else was talking, which made me really angry.

I am thinking that Hab 4 (marriot) might be the best :D

When I stayed there Hab 1 had just been built but now it seems a little to small

It is really nice when you attend the Parent/Child program with a child of the opposite gender. I have attended several times with my nephews and each time, we got the whole room (on the 3rd floor) to ourselves. The rest of the times I went, I was on the fourth floor or in Earhart Bay at AC. I prefer the lower bunk in the corner, the top half is behind a wall and extra dark. This year was the first time that I did not hear all the doors slamming echoing up through the whole building. I think that they finally found a way to muffle them. Did anyone else have trouble with the overly cold temperature in Hab1 at night? I brought a flannel quilt once to make sure I was warm enough to sleep.

Yes two of the nights where freaking cold. I had to use my beach towel as a 2nd blanket.

You know that I was cold at night! I had two space camp blankets and my own White Sox blanket.
