Cheapest/ best time to go?

Well i'd say atr 17 yout definately old enough to fly by yourself. And airlines are more than willing to help you if you need it just ask, and if they seem reluctant which they shouldnt point out your a minor. If you fly through atlanta its doubtful you will be the only person on the flight from atlanta to huntsville going to space camp and they always make sure the space campers are well taken care of atleast on Delta. Don't know about other airlines. So really it would just be the first flight yopu'd be on your own once you get to atlanta you wont be that way for long and you will be met on landing in Huntsville. I flew twice to camp on my own with no problems. Once was when i was your age.

ive gone by myself completely everytime, i do have quite a few friends however though that have gone down by themselves and then just had their parents come down for grad and then go home togeather

Wekll the 2 times i went down not on my own was because we drove the first year and my dad insisted on unacompanied minor my second year. And the the 5th trip i was traveling with a coworker for a confrence and we got lucky enough to do some corporate academy stuff.

I'm from Richmond not Atlanta.. well anyways I guess I shoulden't have watched Second From Disaster awhile back. I am most likly going by my self but you know how it is as a first and only son.. anyways I was thinking Jet Blue or whatever it's called but we will see. I called and she said the week of he 20th is full

From Richmond or not you will likely yave to fly through somewhere else for a layover on the way. I know Delta flies through Atlanta, US flys through Charlotte i know it seems rediculous but thats the way the airlines work others fly through their own major hubs wherever that may be.

Well if you fly through atlanta you can pretty much almost always count on other camp kids being on the plane going to huntsville especially flying delta. Other airlines i don't know about.

okay before u waist your life dont even try to call jetblue or other discount airlines. Huntsville airport is definetely NOT on the list of major city airports and therefore they dont fly there. The discount delta ended (contract experation or soemthing) so it really doesnt matter. just fly a reg comercial airline. 90% of the kids fly delta so i'd go with that. if your coming from the east/central-east you'll stop at either cincinatti or atlanta. No way august 20th is full. Unless they cut down on the number of groups for that week. weird.

Well if he flies delta from Richmond VA i can almost guarantee going through Atlanta. Thats where i always f;ew throughy though i flew from Norfolk VA not Richmond.

wierd... i've only ever flown through dallas/ft. worth or chicago... if they route you through chicago, try to change it because o'hare is ALWAYS a huge hassle!

Might be because of where yuour coming from you go through there. Delta does tend to go through atlanta though since its delta's main hub.

Yeah but unless you live in a city that has a major airline hub like Baltimore, Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago etc yopur chances are slim to none of that.

I ALWAYS flew direct from DTW to HSV via NWAlink/Pinnacle. Though that was a really nice benifit of living in the northern areas of the U.S. You can get a direct flight from DTW to almost anywhere!

Heck it seems like every time i flew down they sat people going to camp together ion the plane. Especially when i went to alabama last summer on business it was kind of funny here i was going to huntsville and what turned out to be a short corporate camp session and the flight attendant sat all the kids going to camp all around me withiut any idea we were going to the same place.
