Wow, now you know exactly how I feel, but I only had 6 days of it, not an entire summer. I feel somewhat lost without school bogging me down.

Yeah summer can be boring with no school work to do. When i was a kid my parents always kept me busy going to scout events, and day camps and space camp and summer activities so it was never boring. Wish i was younf enough to still do stuff like that.

I still try to do stuff all summer. Even I am not old enough for a lot of the stuff I want to do. I especially liked going to summer camp where you just draw and play and eat.

I use to love day camps when we use to go swimming, fishing, went to amusement parks did all kinds of other stuff. And then scout camp was always fun for a week too except the food which makes what you eat at space camp look like gourmet quisine.

See, when I did Girl Scouts, our food was good. Of course, we never did real camping because everyone was afraid of bugs and stuff. We made crafts and stayed in cabins. The food was good considering it was made by the moms who could cook quite nicely.

Well the food at boyscout camp generaly had you in the latrine within a few hours of eating it. And we stayed in tents although we did have cots at cummer camp.

We either had cabins or tents that were about 4 feet off of the ground. Girl Scout camping is really wimpy to say the least.

My summers are full of sleeping and eating and playing. Well now they are partially filled with volleyball too, as I have to start training early in June.

Boy scout camp isnt exactly roughing it but it is more so than girl scout camp.

In my opinion, I don't think making arts and crafts all day and singing around a campfire with homemade food is roughing it at all.

Well boy scout camp you live in a big canvas tent with one other person. the tent is just big enough for the 2 cots the 2 people and room under the cots for gear. The bathroom facilities consist of toilet seats raised up above a whole in the ground far enough that you feel like your on a regular toilet. Showers for scouts are a big open room surounded by a wall with no roof but adult showers have stalls. And you eat in a mess hall with the worst food i can think of outside of a hospital. Most camps also have a trading post where you can get sodas and snacks as well as other stuff. I know it sounds bad but its really not you have merrit badge classes during the day activities at night as well and can swim also when its too hot. And the camp last a week.

Well at Girl Scout camp we didn't have gear. We would keep everything in drawers underneath our bed and we ran around all day making stuff and singing and eating some decent food.

I don't think they liked us having knives, but I so had a pocket knife. I liked to shave the bark off of wood to pass time when we were having turtle time. They made us stay in our cabins and we couldnt go out not even to the bathroom. They wanted us to sleep, but we refused.

Well camping in tents and roughing it a p;ocket knife is more of a necessity. And one camp i went to had a ciesta time after lunch where we were supose to relax before afternoon merrit badge classes and other activities started it lasted an hour. We were supose to be in our cots in the tents which ussualy didnt happen canvas tents can be very hot in the middle of the day.

See we weren't roughing it at all. And why would they want you to be sitting around in a hot tent with someone else for an hour? They should have at least given you some breathing room or something.

Thats why noone ever really stayed in their tent. We ussualy just sat around and goofed off, worked on merrit badge stuff or other requirements for rank, or sat there and widdled on a piece of wood which i did alot. As a leader i spent most of my week fishing although i did some other stuff too. Although technicaly the other adult was in charge due to the fact that he was over 21 and the senior leader had to be over 21 i was pretty much running the troop that week. It was actually alot of fun.

I always playing with knives during Turtle Time. That was by far the most fun thing to do at girl scout camp. I had all kinds of rope and stuff and I would tie widdled pieces of woood together and make stuff. All the other girls were reading their teen magazines even though they were 9 or 10 and I was building stuff out of wood.

Well most times my cwarving consisted of just sharpening a stick to a point on both ends. Kind of making a really big tooth pick. Although i did start one big project one time that never got finished. Basicly it was an old fashioned powder horn like they use to use in the days of the musket. Not really to actually use butjust something cool to have that i made. Unfortunately i never managed to finish it because it took alot of digging into the wood to carve it out. Sounds like you would have made a better botscout than girlscout sara.
