Dont get me wrong the diagram of the new training center looks great but i do have one concern. Whats happened to Columbia, discovery, and endeavour they are no longer in the picture at all. Are they going to completely eliminate them and if so can Intepid, Atlantis, and Enterprise cover the regular shuttle missions for all of the space camp programs? Its also great that they eventually plan to bring back the 24 hour missions and that the simulators will comply with the Americans with dissabilities act.

Well, as posted some time previously, Columbia is gone!

As for Endeavor and Discovery, well, I'm guessing that those are the ones labeled "Deep Space Adventure," but I have yet to confirm this.

Ok i thought that miught be the case. So what programs are going to use what simulators now? I'm assuming camp and academy wont just be doing the deep space missions. I know Atlantis has been used for academy for many years and without atlantis and discovery for regular missions that leaves atlantis the only one for academy. And which one will camp now use without columbia? just out of curiosity. My concern was that 1 simulator per program for regular missions might not be enough in the busier months.

I would read the press release again -- especially the software part. That should give you an idea...

Well i reread the press release and i didnt see anything i hadnt seen before and to me it really doesnt answer the questions i posted above. The only thing the press release said about the software was it was being improved.

let's use our imagination....

Post by carrier pigeon »

If someone who has whole lot of computers comes up to you on the street... (in my case fly) and says...

I am going to make...
"Additional improvements include new computer equipment and more advanced software for the shuttle simulators and mission control areas as well as constructing more advanced mission control rooms."

Wouldn't you kinda think that I was doing it to all the computers... I mean I would want them to all be up to date and .... interchangeable for all my users.... hint hint... lol

If I'm reading (and hearing) all of this correctly, it seems like what they're going to have will be like a spacefaring community with everyone using the same systems at the same time. In other words, Space Camp kids might be using the deep space sims while teens are doing a mission with Enterprise and they'll both use ISS at the same time. If everything is interconnected and interchangeable between levels, then the groups will be able to at least speak to one another in passing. Before, it was just your group and what ever sim you were using at the time. You didn't pay attention to what other teams/levels were doing. I think it all sounds wonderful! 8O Wouldn't it be cool to have a massive multi-program mission when they get everything up and running? SC, AS and ASA could all work together.
