Yeah, I got to go SCUBA. No questions asked. Except, I ended up returning to the surface early because my air supply went into the red. :(

They taught my group the happy turtle. Otherwise I would have no idea what it was cause this was the first time I went to ASA.

Guess they need to be more careful about checking the air tanks before you dive. That wouls suck having to surface early because your air got too low.

It does, LB, it does. But, at least, I had some time down. It was a much better outcome then what we both feared before I left.

Yes, she enjoyed her trip as well. However, I am not going to try and get her to sign up because she wouldn't make too many posts. But, I'm going to try and get the entire Week 41 Shepard Team to sign up.

I dont know how to explain it exactly. But it was a hand signal the dive instructors taught us. When i went we were supose to do it when we went around to the windows of the tank. It was just something for fun.

Happy Turtle History

Post by Kemara »

To do the "Happy Turtle" gesture, put your left hand on top of your right palms down and make a fist, then stick out both thumbs and wriggle them. It's supposed to look like a swimming turtle. Turn your hands over and you get "Dead Turtle". We were told that it was around the time of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" when they decided they needed something more than the "OK" signal to express how much fun the trainees were having so, they came up with happy turtle for use during those too cool SCUBA moments.

I learned the happy turtle! I wonder why Marcus didn't. Do you want me to get my team from ASA to sign up here?

Well i missed the scuba lecture so i missed the reason behind the happy turtle gesture. The only reason i even learned it was because they showed it to us during our basic scuba tank the day of the dive.
