Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
August 4-day is full, October looks to have 4 or more slots.
Unsure what they are doing to the website.... You have to "register" to look at 2015 dates (BTW, no 4-days listed).

Yeah, I tried to look and couldn't see the dates. The 'registration' never took for me at all.majtom7 wrote:August 4-day is full, October looks to have 4 or more slots.

I swear, they're making it tougher and tougher to see anything anymore. That couldn't possibly help get people to sign up if its that hard to navigate a site that's getting less user friendly ever time they change something...

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
To be honest I find the new way quite nice except for it being veryyyyyy slow. Or maybe I'm just stoked to see dates listed past September haha. There's a 4 day in December but my God flights are expensive then. In Sep/Oct a nonstop flight from DFW to HSV is $289, but in Dec the cheapest nonstop is over $500. It's $310 to fly to Charlotte first then back to HSV. That's just silly, but at least it's not too expensive. There's only a couple seats left at that price though so not likely for me to be able to snag one. And no 4 day camps listed after December. Maybe I'll just have to "settle" for a 3 day this winter then hope there are 4 day camps in the summer.

Oh sheesh, I forgot all about Birmingham being so close. I've got storm chaser friends all over AL so getting a ride from there wouldn't be a problem. And back to expedia I go! Thanks You guys are awesome here. (Edit: oops forgot you can't check southwest on 3rd party sites. To southwest.com I go!)

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
I saw no dates listed for adult space academy for the rest of 2014 after the 4-day in October (tried both check availablity and register now - attend before 9/27/2014 gives you the old website, attend after 9/28/2014 gives you the new). Only dates listed were 3-days for January through September 2015. Adult advanced space academy was listed for 9/28-10/3, 2014.wxnerdjenn wrote:There's a 4 day in December

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
That's what I'm seeing now as well, but I definitely saw a December 4 day when I was looking yesterday. It was Dec 27-30. I doubt it filled up that quickly so maybe it was added in error and removed. I was starting the process of signing up for it but backed out until I have more of an idea of how the heck I'm going to afford it

USSRC told me that that is the case with the adult ASA. A group is signed up for ASA and it was accidentally listed on the website.wxnerdjenn wrote:That's what I'm seeing now as well, but I definitely saw a December 4 day when I was looking yesterday. IT'S ALIVE!
They show it now, right between Christmas & New Year's.
They also show a year long camp: 9/28/2014 - 9/27/2015 for $499. OOPS!

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
I wonder what would happen if I registered for the year-long camp? I'm sure I would get a call to say they oopsed, but what would they transfer it to?
I love the idea of a 4-day camp over the Christmas break. The 12-day kids' ASA looks pretty amazing too.

LOL I was wondering the same thing. Probably a 3-day based on the price...SpaceCanada wrote:I wonder what would happen if I registered for the year-long camp? I'm sure I would get a call to say they oopsed, but what would they transfer it to?
So do I, although it is a competitive time for scheduling vacation. On the other hand, people may be in a "use or lose" situation.SpaceCanada wrote:I love the idea of a 4-day camp over the Christmas break..

The year long adult space academy is now labelled as "Adult Programs Holding", whatever that means.
USSRC used to be so much better at providing information, IMHO.

Some sort of indentured servitude?majtom7 wrote:The year long adult space academy is now labelled as "Adult Programs Holding", whatever that means.
Once they dumped a lot of stuff onto facebook, they lost me right away. The misison patches from the past are now all gone, the alumni page is gone for the most part, and the ambassador program page has vanished.majtom7 wrote:USSRC used to be so much better at providing information, IMHO.
I thought they were just changing stuff and I decided to be patient. Now, I realize they're just dumping large sections of the website.
I'm not the least bit happy with where things are going, info-wise at SC...

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
Adult Programs Holding is still there, whatever that means.
The December 4-day has disappeared again.
There appears to be a bargain price ($499, normally the 3-day price) 4-day listed for 9/4/2015-9/7/2015. They might have to honor that one if you sign up.

Adult Programs Holding has disappeared. Listed now are once a month camps for Jan - Aug 2015 with 3 camps in September, including the bargain 4-day.majtom7 wrote:Adult Programs Holding is still there, whatever that means.

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
Does anyone know if attendence to SC overall has been strong or not?
In other words, has this been a good or bad year for SC overall for the numbers coming in to programs?

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
ASSEC is overdue for a quarterly meeting. They should get that information, i.e., assuming that USSRC is run like a business...which IMHO, it is not.
I feel a little better knowing that Homer Hickam and Joe Newberry are on the board. Homer is a former NASA engineer turned author while Joe is the head of Redstone FCU, a very successful credit union.

Re: So, who's ready for 2014?
We are still working on the new registration software that is being used for FY 2015, so your patience is appreciated. My charts show we have Adult Academy 13 weekends in FY15. Three of those are 4 day programs. There is also an adult AC weekend. The dates will show on the registration form eventually, but we're still working on it!!
