Ch-47 Chinook added to Rocket Park

A place for ACers to come and hang out after a hard day of escape-and-evade or survival training.

So, it's actually there now?
Not a fan of Chinooks, let's just say I have two fewer landing in them than I have takeoffs. Long stories, each, one involved a parachute and the other involved a rear rotor coming apart. Hilarity did not ensue in either case... 8O

It was added in late January of this year.

It's a shame they can't open up the back of it and have it indoors. That's really the most impressive aspect of a Chinook, being inside it and realizing how much stuff can really fit inside it.
Besides, one of the worst things you can do with a helicopter is to leave it sitting outside. You only have to see the 'stuffed and mounted' choppers at various military museums to see what I mean there...
the USMC museum has an amazing transition in their Vietnam display area, you walk through the back half of a real Chinook, down the ramp and right into a full sized diorama the fire base at Khe Sanh: http://www.xenophon-mil.org/milhist/mar ... 30484s.htm

Thanks for updating, I knew it was not there in December 2013, when I was there. Yes I agree, it would be great inside. Maybe that could be a goal in the future to save it from the elements.
