So, who's signed up for 2013 already?
Just curious as to who else here has already sent in the confirmation.
I recently put in for an Adult Space Academy slot, looking forward to going back doing it all again!
That said, some parts are going to be a little tough to keep up my motivation for (such as the 'welcome to space camp' first-timer stuff and the model rockets). Having been there before, I don't have the "I can't wait for summer to get here, then end, so I can go to Huntsville" mindset I had last year, but I must admit I'm really looking forward to going again!

Re: So, who's signed up for 2013 already?
We're going in October 2013 with an alumni team. The trip was cancelled for a brief time but it's back on and I am excited. The toughest part is not telling my husband where we are going... so I have to keep my excitement to myself and drop subtle hints once in a while. (And hope he hasn't started reading this forum - ha!)

I am waiting to hear about the September Alumni week that was being put together. It was mentioned in previous posts. Also waiting to see if I will be approved at work for that week off. I find out after April 1.

Re: So, who's signed up for 2013 already?
Conan,
I talked to Steve recently and he said he didn't have enough people to do the September Alumni week we had been talking about. So I think he has given up on putting that together. So I guess we all have to go register individually for our own regular adult sessions, or wait and try again next year.

If anyone wants to throw in on the weekend I'm going, PM me, we could still fill a group with a lot of alumni and have a great time anyway!

Re: So, who's signed up for 2013 already?
Dang. I feel for you, it's almost impossible to get time off where I work. There's a group of people that analyzes availablity and decides if you get time off. the problem is we're coming off of three straight years of mandatory overtime every week (and most weeks going back as far as five years), so there rarely ever was time off to be had. Managers have to override them for any requests and they usually won't do that. For example, I had to have a manager step in to force them to allow me time off for Jury Duty last year! No, I'm not kidding, that really happened.Conan wrote:Looks like I won't be coming this year. My vacation was denied at work.
But if anyone here wants to go in September, PM me and I can give you the weekend I'm going.

I wished the week I was working on, would have worked out. I will try for 2014 if any folks is interested. I am going in September to space camp on one of the weekend camp. Thanks so much for the interest, sorry maybe next year.

The countdown is on... less than two months until we walk through the red gates.

Wish I could be with you all... If there's any alumni groups next year, let me know. Between my nephew's wedding and a possible trip to Normandy for the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, I don't know if I'll have any time off in 2014 for SC, but I always wanna know, just in case!SpaceCanada wrote:The countdown is on... less than two months until we walk through the red gates.

Re: So, who's signed up for 2013 already?
I am still on the road trip after camp was over, won't be able to download photos or write anything solid until I get home. I had a blast, though and commanded the Atlantis orbiter to a very good landing on the Charlie mission, and designed another award winning mission patch... Bunked with Steve in the very same room we shared last year, too.SpaceCanada wrote:Two of you just came back from camp... how was it??

It was fun having y'all! I filled in as EVA counselor for part of the weekend. It's nice putting faces and names to screen names!
