Haven’t heard anything lately. I’ve heard of re-writes, which is NEVER a good thing to hear about in a movie (seriously, I dare you name one really good movie that went back for major re-writes). All that said, I really can’t see how the plot of the original movie could possibly be followed today. It was such a stretch as it was that the kids got to sit in the Atlantis during an engine test when Huntsville and KSC are hundreds of miles apart. Having the kids go from Huntsville to Baikonur, Kazakhstan to have a screw-up sending them to the Space Station is downright insane. Any plot would have to avoid the entire “launching kids into space” issue which was the primary issue with the plot of the original film. Otherwise, it’d just have to be about the drama of the competition between campers and that’d be it. No matter what, I would hope that any writer would not have ANY robot in the film at all!

Maybe the kids could be training at the Russian space camp in Star City?

Yeah, I know, this would not be good for our Space Camp or Sprocket, but the story might be more believable.
Perhaps this movie is about 10 years too late. They could have based it around Space Camp Florida.

I guess with the whole commercial launch office at KSC now, maybe that's how the kids get into space. It'd be easier to get NASA to work on such a film if it wasn't the focus of NASA that made the screwup. I'm surprised they allowed the original movie to be made, honestly.

The Story Synopsis: Space Warriors
A young teenage boy gets the opportunity to fulfill his dream of going to Space Camp and must compete against four other talented teenagers for a final spot at the camp. Captain Buck Manley, a former astronaut, is both mother and father to these hopefuls and a tough taskmaster. He will be their guide through the world of Space Camp as they vie for a spot at the camp. In the end, the teens become heroes when danger erupts on the International Space Station and are in the right place at the right time to save the day.
The M17/ARC/Kickstart team plan to cast four young campers from around the globe and one American youth to portray the five aspirational campers who highlight the competition for the coveted opportunity to attend Space Camp for a protracted period. The cast will include one Native American (which will pay tribute to his Aboriginal roots), as well as one young actor from countries such as China and India. There will also be a major Nashville multi-platinum record selling superstar, portraying a camp administration official who moonlights as a singer. The film will close with an on camera concert performance at a camper graduation baking in a video organically into the fiber of the storytelling.

Normally movies take less than a month of filming on location, so they'll be done by the time I'm there in September.Hotdog wrote:The movie will begin filming the week after the 30th anniversary
I hope to see some reports on what and where scenes were filmed!

Does anyone have a clue what the plot of this movie is supposed to be?
I assume it's not like the original movie, as I can't see a bunch of kids being asked to step into a engine test at Baikonur...

From the Huntsville Times:
...So I guess the kids don't really get to go into space.Space Warriors is an underdog team that competes for a trip to the International Space Station and loses to a more seasoned group of Space Campers called the Titans.
The members of the Space Warriors team use their skills to solve a problem on the space station, Netter said, and "end up saving the day."

It sounds like some kids get to go to space, just not the primary characters. Almost sounds like "Space Cowboys" from the opposite end of the age spectrum. Sounds like this will be a great or terrible movie (flip a coin). Still, anyone who's been to camp will wanna see it even if it stinks. I already plan on wearing my SC 30th anniversary shirt to the first showing I get to at the local theater when it shows...Hotdog wrote:From the Huntsville Times:
