Food in Cafeteria
Has anyone found the food in the cafeteria to be enjoyable? I have found that the food is too greasy and fatty. The vegetables are dark brown....
Believe it or not at one point in time around 13 years opr so ago it wasn't so bad. In recent years it went way down hill. Try eating the same stuff all summer long for 3 months. Their are a few decent food items the chicken fingers tend to be decent and breakfasts arent nearly as bad as other meals. Other than that.....

When I went to Camp in the early 90's, I remember the food being really bad. When I went back in 2007 to the adult program (and after many more trips to various camps and retreat centers) I found the food at Camp reasonable. The adult program did have the advantage of having some different options (mostly baked or broiled versions of the fried food available for younger campers). But, even so, I ate a lot of the "standard" camp food. It wasn't great but it wasn't as bad as I've had at other places. For a week or so, most people should be fine. Adding a box of your favorite granola bars or trail mix to your gear for snacks isn't a bad idea. But I give people that advice regardless of where they're going.

Food
I have been there many times. I agree that breakfast is the best meal of the day there, but even at the other meals, there are always fresh fruits and salads and bread and butter so there is usually something healthy to eat if the cooked foods don't look appetizing.

My team was split on Mexican Wednesday. Most of us hated it (partly because half the team was Australian) and a few of us loved it.SpaceCanada wrote:Huh, Mexican Wednesdays used to be the best food of the week. Back in the late 90s, both the counsellors and kids agreed.

Mexican Wednesday isn't too bad. I'll never forget one particular meal they served us in '91. Everybody on my team got the same thing...maybe there wasn't much choice. It was a patty covered with marinara sauce and cheese.
Us: "What is this?"
Our Counselor: "It's veal. Eat it. You'll like it."
Us: Simultaneous pushing back of plates with disgusted faces.
I've had veal parmesan since then and liked it, but at 13, it was a bit of a shock.

I think things really went down hill after they re-designed the cafeteria and Lunch pad area. The old cafeteria used to serve food, not single serving styrofoam food items. It was a much better layout in my opinion as well, they had a second line they could route over flow to. And yes the food was better as well.
