Open Letter to President and Congress?

I've been thinking of teaming up with people to create an open letter to the president and congress about extending the shuttle program to shrink or even close the gap between the shuttle and orion. It wouldn't make sense for the country who made it to the moon to sacrifice their self-reliance in space for several years. Anyone with me?
