Meteor caught on tape

Post by monkeynautt »

Last week there was a meteor that lit up the sky over western Canada. I unfortunatly missed it as I was at the hockey game but it was caught on the police dashboard camera in a community 15 minutes from where I live. If the link doesn't work, look under Edmonton Meteor and there are several different videos of it.

I didn't get to see this either - I was inside cooking supper - but I know many people who did and they all said it was brilliant.

They found where it hit a few days ago. The first piece was found on frozen pond but it did not break throught the ice. One piece was just over 300g and another was 200g (it was on the local news last night but I can't find the video)

Amazing how the result of such a big fireball in the sky is only two pebbles at 200g and 300g. I can only imagine the size it must have been before it began to burn up - some say the original meteor was as big as a house!
