Just wanted to share in my INCREDIBLE weekend! Mike Mullane and his family made me feel so relaxed and were awesome. On a side note, I asked what his favorite movie is, he immediately answered "There's Something About Mary. Oh wait! Did you mean my favorite Space movie?". Got a bunch of stories that weren't in the book, and more detail on the one's that were. Also, got a "Gotcha" from him. I was telling his son Patrick how I got a picture of me kissing Al Worden on the cheek. "You have to get one kissing my Dad's cheek!" he grabbed my camera and said "Dad, gonna take a picture of Sarah kissing you on the cheek" I leaned in and right then he turned and smacked me on the lips. Charlie Bolden got upset so Patrick and Donna went and kissed him and Patrick took the picture too.
So amazing to have met Scott Carpenter, Charlie Duke, Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, Al Bean and others. I'm already signed up for next year! And when saying good bye, first to Mike Mullane who said "Oh, well I have to get a hug since we kissed last night" then to Charlie Bolden with "When will I see you again?" I've been on surreal planet since!
The only bummer was "Hoot" wasn't there and I didn't get the 61-C sandwich that Charlie Bolden promised me haha. Heard two stories, one he had the flu, the other was he had to go to court as a representative. Maybe next year!
If you have the funds, I highly suggest doing it! November of next year!

Oh my God! You can't believe how insanely jealous I am right now. Can you tell me where I can get the details of this event. I can't believe I didn't know about it. Do the astronauts autograph their books and such?
I'd like to show Al Bean pictures of my office. I have a framed poster that he autographed for me at Space Camp hanging on one wall, and one of his signed (him AND Pete Conrad) numbered prints hanging on another wall.

That's a great experience Sarah. Now you will have to let us in on the new stories and extra details to the stories in his book. Spill the beans!

They don't have the information posted yet (I believe it was early registration for those of us that attended) but when it does come available it will be somewhere on here http://www.astronautscholarship.org. Here's this year's page: http://www.astronautscholarship.org/show2008/index.html
They do sign their books, but each has a fee (of which I believe a percentage goes to the foundation). I know Dee O'Hara was donating 100% of her 15 dollar fee.

Did you know Patrick Mullane was a AC counselor?SpaceCanada wrote: That's a great experience Sarah. Now you will have to let us in on the new stories and extra details to the stories in his book. Spill the beans!
Another funny thing that happened at our table, one of the guys told us how he collects Fecal bags from Apollo. "Unused I hope" was Mike's response. Then this guy goes on to say how he has a barf collection from astronauts as well! Mike then stood "I have to use the restroom, can I get anybody a drink on my way back?" the other guy stood up "Actually, I'll go with you, I have a few questions for you". I turned to Mike and said "I hope it's not 'can I collect some of your urine?'"
I'm going to sit down and write out my weekend experience, I'll link it when I'm done for those interested in reading.
