Space Camp Barbie 2.0
Anyone else notice the countdown on the US Space Camp website?
Just less than 15 days and a lot of new Space Camp Barbies will be at the USSRC!
How does the original Space Camp Barbie feel about these new sisters and cousins?
Hopefully their boxes will have correct labels on the MAT.

Well last year during the second alumni session the original space camp barbie was a big part of our team. She even made it into the 25th anniversary photos on the website

I think the Space Camp Barbie 1.0 might like to have a friend
Did I tell you I was at the AHOF inductions and waved SCB at "Hoot" and he gave a big grin and wave? Yup, she made quite an impression.

Somewhat straying from the topic:
My ballet recital last night was a performance of 'The 12 Dancing Princesses'. It so happens that Barbie made a movie of herself dancing this story as well so we loosely based our recital on that. Anyway, last night I couldn't help but think of Space Camp Barbie and her new friends. They tie together, sorta, just a little...
Oh, fine, get back on topic with the SCB 2.0 stuff. Don't mind me.

In the article link to by JasonG in another thread you can see the new Space Camp Barbie. They even have one with dark skin! Hurrah!
For the record, I only ever owned two Barbies in my lifetime - one had hair that 'grew' (weird!) and the other was a dark skinned athlete of some sort with a swimsuit, running shoes, and sporty clothes. I wan't into the girly frilly business. Still not.
Now, I may have to get myself one of those dark skinned SCBs though, just to be cool and fit in, you know?
With the absurd shipping, it probably won't happen, but it is funny to think about.

The Barbies in that picture appear to be those from 1998. There were two Barbie skin tones for the first release and the new release is going to have 3.

I was actually going to get a Barbie today and make a little lab coat for her (kind of as a statement since I generally don't like the stereotypes she creates for women)...but I didn't find one that I liked, so I gave up the idea...but SCB has possibilities.

So I just got the old SCB in the mail. Bought it off of ebay. She now sits by my astronaut cabbage patch doll.
The new SCB has been delayed until August. I still haven't decided if I'm going to get it since the shipping quote I got from the Space Store is expensive.

Space Camp Barbie
I've had a Space Camp Barbie for a few years now. She sits on a shelf in my Space Room next to Star Trek Barbie and Ken. She is very fond of Captain Kirk Ken but she REALLY likes my astronaut G.I. Joes

Is it just me, or is the new Barbie all frilly and lacking in the spacey department? I liked how the original SCB had a flight suit that resembled the ones astronauts and SC trainees wear. The pink and shiny astronaut clothes don't work for me... but, then again, I have never been much of a girly girl.

Space Camp Barbie 2.0
I agree wholeheartedly. I've never seen a girl or woman at Space Camp dressed like that and I doubt I ever will. The Barbie mach 1 with the flight suit is much more realistic.
