In the Shadow of the Moon

Post by SpaceCanada »

Mention of the other show reminded me of another show I have in my DVD collection that is really interesting: In the Shadow of the Moon.

Anyone seen it? I love how they add so much personality to the Moon missions.

Even my not-quite-spacey husband enjoyed watching it.

I wanted to see it when it came out, but only one theater plays the independent and obscure/foreign films near me, and I never had the chance, I saw it recently at Barnes & Noble though, which reminded me of it. Maybe I'll buy/rent it and watch it to get ready for camp.

In the Shadow of the Moon

I did manage to see it in the theatre during the few days they actually showed it near me. It is really good. It is on my list to purchase eventually and I highly recommend it. The book with the same title is also very interesting. It has a lot more detail about some of the lesser know Apollo missions like 9 and 10. Very worth reading.

I watched it via Netflix. Great movie. Disappointed in the lack of Pete Conrad, but what are ya gonna do? ;)

I saw it in the theater when it came out (took the train over to Dallas to the art house theater and everything...although we had trouble finding non-frou-frou ice cream after it was over before catching our train back. Gellato is okay, but it's not ice cream). I really enjoyed it. Of the documentaries (I don't count From the Earth to the Moon as a documentary), I think it's possibly the best one about the Apollo program and the moonwalkers. Great stuff and very much worth seeing.

Good news everybody, the Discovery Channel is showing it next monday at 9PM EST to go along with When We Left Earth. Well, I'll be at camp then, so I won't be able to see it, but space camp is always better than a documentary!
