Well, the camera was just an example.

Quite frankly though, I'd say bring whatever you want with the understanding that if it gets lost, broken, stolen, etc...oh well.

that's what the majourity of us understood when we first heard the rules of camp (and the multiple times after...) they don't recommend having that stuff due to theft and the possible loss or breakage of them. they wouldn't take them away unless something went totally wrong, like if you called your best friend in the middle of a briefing. but they were okay to bring to have for freetime.

Maybe I think so differently because I am older and I live in a small town rather than a city. Up here we have never allowed electronics (except digicams, calculators (school), and flashlights) to school or summer camps. Actually, I prefer it that way. Then again, I am one who owns a mobile phone only for emergency use, and I own a laptop (without internet) at home only for word processing and photo editing about once a month. So, I guess it's all what you're used to.

This past summer they didnt seem to really care about the electronics. Cellphones at AC were ok as long as they were in your rooms and off, if they rang during a briefing you would not see it agin till after graduation. and at ASA i think Becky was glad i had my cd player cause it kept me out of trouble during some down time. it was more of an as long as we dont see it and it isnt disruptive we dont care policy.

lol, im sure the counselors were glad i had things to entertain myself. i can think of one in particular...lol. sigh!

i have this solitaire game that i play at camp. loads of fun and can keep me entertained for hours. i know, im special. 8)

omg, talk about taking the rules too far. one time, a counselor got upset that i stayed up late at night to read. they threatened to take away my book and lantern for the entire week.

im not THAT much trouble.

This last time at camp, I duct taped my flashlight to the ceiling, and it became a handy-dandy hanging reading light!

Yeah, my first year someone brought a camera, and along with the skits, we also did a documentary of our week. After camp they edited it, collected pictures from everyone and put it all together into a really nice and amusing video.

And i tried to stay out of trouble, failed but tried and thats all that matters

I brought my iPod, and I was never in trouble, I only used it to help me sleep, no-one cared, but make sure lights for reading after lights-out arent too bright, everyone was like "ahhh! turn it off!" I also will bring the Iliad this year, my space program quiz and fact book, and my travellers guide to mars.

I always get the bunk in the corner (Hab 1).

I can read, text, whatever I feel like in that corner :P

And the others can get their shut-eye.
