Bays

Post by DanM »

I'm going to Academy in a few weeks, what bays have you been in, be sure to include which hab they were in and what floor they were on! And what bays had famous or infamous events in them? I was in phoenix bay in Hab II last year.

Skunks got into the Hab II air ducts when I was there in '89. You can imagine the A/C blowing the wonderful smell into all of the sleep bays. Happened just as we were getting ready for bed too! For a couple of hours, Hab II was in total chaos!

Oh yeah, that same year, my night counciler decided to throw us an after-hours party. Sort of against the rules. There was this older Level II hottie we all liked, and he said if one of us could score a "date" with her, he would throw the party. She showed up, and Big E (our counciler) bought us all pizzas, sodas and ice cream and even DJ'd for us. We had a blast! Until one of the other councilers (The "Dragon Lady") showed up and put an end to our festivities. I think we had a new new counciler after that. :(

Someone discovered a carton of rotten milk in our vents one year. Horrible...

On a completely unrelated note, our counsellors in 1998 had an after-hours party themselves - an EDM! They must have such fun jobs!

Oh, and adults have after-hours parties at the Mariott, ATO - Abort to Otters. Except, they still allow smoking in there so I couldn't go due to allergies. A few of us raided the mess hall and made banana splits instead! :-D

Back on topic... there was one terribly homesick ASA kid in Hab1 wen I was there in 1998. She was rather miserable to be around. Thankfully she was not on my team or in my room.

My Adult Academy group went out drinking a few times. It was cool I guess, minus me not being quite 21 yet. Oopsies. We had a kid down at AC break their collar bone, it was a guy... Also had a girl freak out and go home after a day. Amusing.
