Well i asked off the day of the alumni dinner dance and hopefully still a Max Q performance hopefully will have it off. Even iif not i'll get to see alot of you guys when you visit AC. Wait till you see the new software. It blows away anything we had in 96 not sure how it compares to the more recent software it replaced. Oh i also got one of the 25th anniversary callenders that were mentioned on the website but that i hadnt seen till i went into the camper services office the other day.

It has a then and now on each page the then is in black and white and the now in color. they kind of blend together but they dont have really any info about what you are seeing in the picture. It does have space histry dates marked on it though and alot of info on the programs and museum.

June 16th Alumni Dinner Dance?

Post by airline chic »

I was just on the Space Camp web site and I could not find the Alumni Dinner/dance that was on there for June 16th. Is this event cancelled? I hope not, I was planning on attending, and I did hear something about poor ticket sales for this event, I dont know if that was here on Hab1 or on myspace. I was not going to buy any tickets till it was a little closer to the events. If anyone has info.... please post.

numbers were something like 20 a week ago and they wanted ~250, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was canceled. Also, MaxQ had to cancel, so...

Unfortunately i got word this morning going over to AC that the alumni dinner dance is officially cancelled. That is too bad the good news for me though employees here get a huge discount on the shatner dinner now only 55 dollars for employees.

:-( I was really looking forward to that. I guess we'll all have to go out for a drink instead. :-)

Sounds good to me! As long as there isn't anything else fun being planned for that night. It's getting closer!!!

Does anyone know if there is only 1 adult team for the weekend? I would hate to have all the hab1ers split up if they had 2 teams.

I'll be going in June

Post by Infinite Joy »

I have just signed up for the June weekend, and I see from your postings that we'll have quite a colorful team - so much energy and passion!

Isn't it great to have a place to meet up with others who understand it all?

I went to Space Camp was in 7th grade on a group trip with the Science Museum of Minnesota. I was there the week Vice President Dan Quayle showed up and spoke under Pathfinder. They had a helicopter gunship flying around and snipers on the roof - exciting!

Without a doubt, the missions are the best part of Space Camp. I am hoping that in place of the Saturday dance they will add another shuttle mission. The way it stands now there will only be one shuttle mission on the first night we arrive. So, it would be great to have two missions as bookends to a fabulous weekend!

If you agree, why not let Space Camp know? They are making a decision on how to fill that time now.

Of those who are going in June, what are you hoping for the most? I am hoping for an all-star mission (or two!) that everyone enjoys as well as checking out the new flight sims over AC. I've been practicing up with Microsoft Flight Simulator and Orbiter.

As I read all your postings here, I am also wondering if anyone has ever seriously considered applying to the NASA Astronaut program? I know it's quite a long shot with so many qualified citizens, but I think even applying would be a great achievement!

Looking forward to meeting!
Chris

I'd rather be a mission specialist. I love doing the EVA.

I don't care what I am...I just care that I am going! I was a pilot on my first trip and a PS on my second trip. I did not like the PS track, but that's what you get when you had to switch dates at the last minute. On the EDM, I was pilot for the first half and on the space station for the second half. My second EDM I was in mission control, which I preferred rather than being a PS.

I've done 2 different ones in Payload bay and one on the ISS. I just love doing the space walks, doesnt matter which one.
