Movies that remind me of camp

Post by monkeynautt »

After watching Top Gun the other night I began to think about other movies that remind me of camp. Some have something to do with space while others have nothing at all.

The Goonies - We watched this for late departure my first year. And since there were little kids watcing it they had to fast forward a certain scene...

Destiny in Space and Space Station - I rememer the first time I saw space station was at night and so it was all kids from camp. During the scene when they were putting on the Russian suits someone from my team shouted out that they need to close it with duct tape. For the entire week our team was obsessed with duct tape.

(just breaking it up so its not a huge post)

Deep Impact and Star Wars - we actually watched these during our 24 hour mission. As soon as we got to the station we started watching movies instead of working.

Adventures of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen - we watched the one where they go to Space Camp. We were supposed to watch Spacecamp but the counselor couldn't find the movie.

Top Gun - mentioned in the Barracks

Spacecamp - (obvious choice) if I'm missing camp sometimes I watch the first hour until they get launched.

Armegeddon - another film I saw during EALD. Also, during the 24 hour mission, some of the guys would be saying the lines the Russian on MIR said.

There are others but right now I can't think of them.

Stranger than Fiction made me think about Space Camp quite a bit!

"You're never too old to go to Space Camp, dude!"

...what a great scene!

What group isn't obsessed with duct tape?

I enjoyed seeing Space Station last time because Adam Gittleman was on my team and is in the movie. Tom Cruise's drivel makes me want to pierce my eardrums, though. "Now, I'm a diver, and every diver knows..." Uggghh.

I just saw it. I loved that part. And they had a program guide in it which I thought was cool.

My nephew, who has high functioning autism, would fit right in. Somewhere we have a picture of him at age 10 with a women in a chair completely and totally wrapped in duct tape. He is holding a video camera. The caption reads: "But you asked me to tape." LOL!

Also I love the line: "Dude, you're never too old for space camp."

Yeah, that scene in Stranger Than Fiction really was great.

I don't know if I have any movies that specifically remind me of camp, but I know I remember watching a whole bunch of camp classics while there. They only have so many movies on site, so we've all probably seen a good number of them.
The less time spent in Orion Bay, the better.
