nOOb checkin in...

Post by 1MileCrash »

hey all. found this place earlier this morning.

you can see below where i've been and when below.

one big question has bugged me for a while now. what happened to the Titusville, FL campus? there's no record of it whatsoever online. i ask cause that was my first experience at camp and i loved it. made some good friends there that i have unfortunately over time lost touch with...one of which was my counselor who went on to work at NASA at Johnson training astronauts.

lately i've been thinking about going back but i'm so swamped with so many other things that i know i wont' have time for it this summer...maybe next if i'm lucky.

Unfortunately, when the Astronaut Hall of Fame declared bankruptcy, Space Camp Florida went down.

Delaware North, the company that runs the tourist side of KSC (along with many other parks), purchased the assets and now runs the Space Camp part as Astronaut Training Experience.

whaaaa?! the astronaut hall of fame went bankrupt?! so i see there that they do some missions or something and that it's only a day long. is that correct? so what happened with the brand new housing facility that was built? did this company pick up all of the simulators and equipment or what?

this is all so surprising.

Well if you can make it this summer it woukd be a great time to go. Its the 25th anniversary celebration and judging by the dates you went i'd say you're over 19 so you could go for an adult alumni camps they are holding for the anniversary one is in june one in august.

As far as the astronaut hall of fame and Space Camp Florida i know the camp was hit really hard by september 11th and attendance dropped sharply. California also shut down before Forida for drops in attendance.

wasn't there also one in colorado?

i know i've been thinking about heading down there but my schedule is so packed right now...i'm goin on a 2 week family vacation in late may/early june, i'll be pulling security duties at a fireworks show/fair and a state water ski tourney basically all of july, august is my month to relax...haha...relatively speaking as i still have drills and meetings and a couple of various outings...and september is starting back to school.

i think i may have to see about finding a weekend though. yeah i'm also 23 now...12, 13, and 14 respectively when i attended my sessions.
