How are the Graphics in the Mach II sims?

It's pretty good for what it is.

With that said, the land detail isn't great, the other planes are often not great, and don't even think about trying to fly above 50k - you'll crash the sims that way.

You don't fly these sims for the graphics - you fly them for the experience of being in a cockpit where you flip switches and hit buttons instead of tapping on your keyboard.

Funny story about the ceiling on those sims. We were told to ascend to like 51k once so as to avoid the SAM sites between us and KSC when we were at the advanced 8 day xmas session. It definitly resulted in us hovering in one spot while doing some odd acrobatics...

Actually those were M3 sims so it could have been a different altitude all i remember is that we definitly crashed the sims by flying way too high on orders from the tower...

nope - all the sims (mach I, II, and III) have the 50k feet ceiling - different cockpits, same software.

I believe the correct altitude to avoid the SAMs in the sims is either 30k or 40k - I'm not sure offhand.

Well it was an ASA event so the people running the tower probably weren't as proficient as your typical AC counselors... Though if i remember correctly we were told to ascend to like 40k and we were still getting beaten up by the SAMs so they just kept having us go higher until the sims locked up and we couldn't do anything else. It really sucked too because we were through most of our flight and we had to start over after we hit the ceiling.

you should be glad the tower didn't crash too. Sometimes when individual sims go over 50k, the tower will crash which requires it being rebooted AS WELL AS each of the sims. This can translate to over a 20 minute delay. Not fun when you've got another team coming in right afterward.

What about a altittude that you can't fly under?
And do you start off at the run way and fly to the combat area or do you start of in the combat area. Because it would be cool if you got to fly there. -Rogue Leader

other than top gun you will always have to take off and fly to a designated area, in the case of mach II quite often San Diego, and you can go as low as you want, in mach III you will have to make strafing runs at 50-200 ft for some of the missions the only thing is making sure you dont crash
