OH NO!!! Now Steph is sad. :( GRR. That means I will only have like one summer to "possibly" work there. I don't like that... Well hopefully lotsa Spring people will quit. Grr, Kaphooey. All I wanted to do was be a counselor for a summer.. kaka. Grr. Okay sorry, lol. I got to camp 10 times, the least they can do is give me a job there, lol.

Question: does applying require actual written recommendations, or does it require just names for reference? I need to know before I send out this email to someone... need to know whether or not to just ask for permission to write their name down or for an actual written rec.

No you don't need them when you apply, but it never hurts to have everything ready to go. Less hassle for HR and makes you look like a possible responsible employee that can get things done in a timely manner.

Addtional professional references are always a good idea for any job.

Wait... I'm confused... they're not required immediately, but are they required eventually?

They are not required right away... (I faxed mine with everything else though)...

When you are hired and get the packet of info/an e-mail... they ask you to send or bring the most recent transcript and letters of recommendation with you when you come for training.

Yes you are required to have the actual written recommendations before the completion of training. But like I said, get them done now, so you aren't running around like a chicken with your head cut off.

Good job Duckie, you are ahead of the game.

eh... you want funny... the summer camp I worked at in MD had you get fingerprinted before camp started (for background checks and the like), but they and you did not get the results till mid-september.... almost a month after camp ended.

I agree with Vincent; it was worth the wait. I was disappointed when I wasn't hired for Summer '03, especially since I'd gone so far out of my way to prepare a video interview. Luckily they hold your application, and as Kit said, a lot of times a video interview can be waived. So don't worry if you don't get hired straight off! Have a contingency plan, at any rate, as you should do with anything.

I really need to get going on my Huntsville app. The Turkey app is due on the 1st, so I'm finishing it up right now. Then I need to begin the Huntsville app. Any word on when that's due?

Counselors (level 3) with open schedules have begun training. The next batch of part timers (level 1 and 2) are starting Feb. 8th.

I turned in my app for level 1 today, but they need people who have morning availability and unfortunately that's when I have classes  . I don't know how things are going to turn out. I'm going to re-apply for the summer though.

Is there a due date on the Huntsville app?

the due date I believe has passed, as both level I and II training has begun.

From what I heard from the managers, it seemed like they needed night and weekend availbility... But that might have been for level IIs; come to think of it, based on what the level Is are allowed to do, I don't think there's much going on during the evenings for them...

But if you're hoping to get an open slot for the Summer (if there are any), I would have it in by April 1st or so...

oh yeah, I forgot about summer applicants. Silly me - I'm not sure what they're hiring for summer. I heard they wouldn't be doing a new training for team leaders, so they might not be hiring level IIs and IIIs, but I'm not sure (I have no confirmation, just speculation and guessing).

Basically, I plan to submit an app listing "counselor I, II, or III" in the "applying for" blank, in hopes of them either overlooking anything I don't qualify for or hiring me out of need. I do feel like I'm qualified, that's for sure...

I wrote team leader or general counselor or something to that effect, as I wasn't aware that they had changed the structure when I applied for rehire.
