Anyone else working on the counselor application?

Post by Bubbles7 »

It's SO long, I am so slow. I worked on it for an hour yesterday. So who's all actually, really applying for AC or Space Camp counselor positions. Am I all alone? It's like 8 pages of paperwork altogether without the letters and the transcript... plus i gotta make a video. So much to do, lol. Wondering if anyone else was doing the same. :) I guess I feel all alone. I can't choose if I want SC or AC. I think I'd like AC better, but I'm not a real pilot, I just play one for fun. lol. I do have CAP experience though.. ugh I love space too though. Who'd a thunk it'd be so hard. I think Pyro did SC and switched over later he said. Ah... what to do. Okay. I'm rambling.

Could I, as an 18 year old, actually be hired as Counselor I. I know its only support, but it would still be fun. Also, for my app. what things should I send with it?

gotcha, somehow in my lack of sleep that didn't come across as a roman numeral. did that even make sense? probably not. This is what I get for being up till 6 in the morning writing a paper.

I never submitted a video, and I got hired. I had a psuedo interview by Marion on the phone. I wouldn't sweat it if that's your only thing left.

Yay exciting... my first post.

I submitted the last half of my application earlier this month (no video), had a short (and uber-exciting for me :D ) chat on the phone with HR this afternoon, where I was offered a job. So don't stress about the video and just get your application in.

Hope to meet you down there!!!

Yup, me too. Heck, I haven't even downloaded the Alabama app. I'm working on my Turkey app today, though.

Bad news for me and probably some others; I found out that the current registration period to be a counselor is for the spring not the summer and training starts 01/16/06 from 8am to 5pm for four weeks. They call it the spring/summer session is because most spring people go on to the summer. There is a local fair here tomorrow in Nashville, I called Space Camp’s HR department and they told me that if I get all this done now that it could help me get one of the very few empty slots over the summer. If I don’t get the job over the summer because there are not enough slots I will reapply for next spring because from what it looks like I will not have to take class here in Nashville.

So they've hired all they wanted for the Spring?

...because if they haven't, and given that it's not January 16th yet, and you're an alumnus, I wouldn't think it should even be an issue!

They might be in a bind, they may not have enough people for the spring session.

Oh, I see...I misread your post a bit.

Yeah...Summer hiring generally comes down to a combination of their projected need for that Summer and their retention rate through the Spring.

And given that they're paying much better this year, they may indeed have fewer spots available.

Best of luck! And, believe me, I understand. They weren't hiring newbies for Summer '03, so I had to wait another year. But it was worth the wait!
