Recent Sim Pics

Post by Cerver »

So I took some pics today. I'll upload them as I can, but remember, I'm working with a 26k modem.

Image

As you can see its very cluttered.

Module A is almost finished, although there are no current plans for what it will be used for.

Module C is in place, but needs a lot of work.

Module B is no attached nor in its final place.

Ironicaly, module A could have been used as a station for the old Endeavour, but we took it out to make room for the new module :)

Intrepid is now called Endeavour.

I'm also uploading some pics of the inside of most areas. They havn't changed, but I thought my family might want to know what I was doing all summer.

Very awesome indeed. Pictures are good - the more the merrier! I cannot get the link to work though :(

What happened to the Discovery sim? They were gutting it out to make a Soyuz capsure or something when I was there back in October 2004. I am guessing they left it as an orbiter sim.

8) Thanks Tim, I sure miss camp. About a year I was there for the Alumni Camp. I am hoping to go to the USSRC some day as a vistor some time this month or next. Is there any way someone there could give me a tour of the Training center floor?

I'm here right now for the first time in like 2 years. It's good to be back. Tomorrow's our last full day which is sad. And the TCF looks even better when my teddy bear is suspended above it :D .

My upload keeps freezing on that Atlantis.zip, so it wont be up for a while.

You can get tours, just say you want to see what it is because you "might want to go to camp" (prospective tour)

Disco is an orbiter sim and will be for a very long time. The idea about the soyuz was a good one until upper management told them to get rid of the old endeavour.

I think camp may take a step in a new direction in the next few years. Its a far fetched, but i would love a room of sims like down at AC, but instead of planes, it would be mercury/gemini/apollo modules

youd climb in to the tiny cockpit, and do famous missions

Oh well, so much for dreaming.

Yeah, famous capsule missions would be fun, indeed. But it'd probably need to be Apollo, or else there'd be nothing except a few in-capsule experiments... but that does sound cool.

Tim... if you can somehow get the file to me, I could host it on Nattybump.com for all to see... the problem would be getting it to me in the first place, seeing as I leave on Monday out of the country... so yeah, probably not a great plan.

I haven't seen the training floor since my last ASA trip in 2002! The most I have seen of the center since then was an IMAX movie with some friends in about 2003 (while I was attending UAH). Now I regret having not visited the center after they renovated the training floor . . . maybe I will plan a visit for next summer. One member of our ASA team (2002) has contacted me regarding a reunion trip, which would be quite fun!

I honestly cannot believe how much times has passed since my last trip to ASA. It is already starting to get cold outside; 2005 will soon be gone . . . where has time gone?!

Well nothing has been planned yet, Susan just told me that she was going to try to set it up. So she'll be contacting people I suppose. The logistics of such a trip would be quite difficult, I'm sure, because most everyone from '02 is probably in college these days.

I still would like to take a trip down there to see the new training floor and visit the museum, but I fear the price of gas/plane tickets will prevent that for a while :( (I told my folks I would use my vacaction in October to fly down and visit them in Tennessee . . . maybe I should ditch them and fly to Huntsville instead! 8) )
