Kit, I think it's hilarious how we jump on the wardroom computers after one another to reply to each other. We see each other like every day. We're usually sitting near each other when we write these things.
Hilar.
Speakin of abbrevs like "hilar," I abbrev'd binoculars to "binocs" in my aweso new night telesc alt brief in case of weath. Abbrevs are where it's at.

Kate,
the reason we jump on the wardroom computers after one another to reply to each other isn't so we can tell each other our answers - it's so we can make sure everyone else sees them too.
Besides, I need something to do after I've finished reading the last 400 posts on my friends' page for livejournal...

Hilar:
Yeah, I can think of counselors who don't have the years requirement and still come a bit short on the hours requirement. Both the counselors I am thinking of had previously been campers.
Apply.
I applied in March 2003 but didn't get hired until March 2004, so even if you don't get hired right when you apply, they can hold your application... and you'd have it done, too. I found the applicant questionnaire to be time-consuming and was relieved to have it finished and sent off. I'd started it in January!
I had a good deal of trouble coming up with a video interview, then found out that many out-of-town counselors were able to complete their interview over the phone. Ask HR; they might be willing to work with you on some aspects of the application.
