Deep Impact is a spacecaft that will collide with the comet Tempel 1 on July 4th. The impact with be so bright that you can see it using binoculars.

Yeah i need to figure that out too. Nothing cool ever happens where you can see it over lower michigan.
Edit: If i figured this correctly it should be impacting at about 2 am EST. I still dont know where though.
Edit again: Ok its going to be near Spica which is the bright star in Virgo so find that star and you should be good to go... providing it hits lol.

From what i understand it will onlybe visible in the southwest US but NASA tv is covering it live.

I heard it's actually out of the horizon from the US... stupid NASA! I'll watch some NASA TV to see about that, though.

Draw a line from Chicago down to Atlanta, if you're west of it, you have a good chance. East, you have none.

Did anyone see it? My friend said she saw one flash that seemed to be like a jet, but, you know, once I guess... dunno if she saw it or not. I didn't.
But, I did watch NASA TV... SUCCESS! YAY!
