For those of you who are sceming how to get into Space Camp during your first or second year of college when (you think) you're too old to come as a camper, but don't quite have the hours to be a counselor, fear not!

I found out that you can come here as a camper in AA or Mach III up to 3 months after your 19th birthday, you can get a waiver. Too bad I didn't know this last summer. Oh well, I've survived that, and I'm having a blast being a counselor here.

Ooh... that's good to hear. I'm really going to try to get to Christmas camp when I'm 19, but my birthday is September 9, so I'll have to see what they say... good luck to me, I guess.

how do you get this wavier?

because i'm going to ASA this summer and it starts 3 days after my 19th b-day, and when i signed up the just put my b-day as one year later, but i didn't know if when the see my forms that they would know that i'm 19 and i couldn't go this summer then.

As much as I want to go back . . .I think paying for college is going to have to take priority. :( No extra money for space camp.

yeah, paying for college took precedence over my return trip, so I wound up working last summer - but now I'm here as a counselor, so it's all good.

I think you just need to ask for the waiver, and you can get it. I'm not really sure.

I find it funny that I could have been a counsellor (with two years of post-secondary) AND an ASA trainee in the same month. What fun! I wonder if anyone has done that before - go for a final session of ASA the week before their counsellor training started?

it's certainly been talked about. We currently have two counselors - one up top working sims, one down at AC, who are both still 18. They could still be campers here, no problem.

In fact, one of them came to Christmas camp - his name is Tim.

 Tim is indeed interesting. Are you lurking around here anywhere, Tim? How are you liking the counselor life?
