Space Documentaries

Post by Boomerang »

I just thought we could discuss our favorite space documentaries and movies. I just recently recieved a copy of a documentary made in the early 80s called Conquest. It had great footage of Mercury , Gemini, and Apollo as well as early shuttle flights up through about 1984. It also talks about some of the unmanned probes sent out in the 70's. Its 3 hours long but i sat down and watched the whole thing the day i got it. I dont know if you could even find it anymore i think my grandparents found it at a garage sale. But if you do find it its worth getting and it also has some great footage of russian space stuff.

From the Earth to the Moon was a really good miniseries...I also liked, For All Mankind.

Further, The Dish covered the story of the moon landing from a very unique perspective. Then there's the always enjoyable October Sky...

Still...I think the IMAX films are probably some of the very best, with Hail Columbia and The Dream is Alive standing out in my mind.

The Dish is about the Australian support during Apollo 11, specifically, the relaying of telemetry and voice data, as well as the TV footage people around the world watched.

It's a funny and interesting movie. For more info: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... 82-4239001
