I must say that when I came to hab1 today and read the front page a great wave of sadness swept over me. Endeavor was the first simulator I ever set foot in at camp. Nothing will ever compare to the first time that you get to use the sims at camp and getting to pilot one of the moving sims was an awesome experience. Sure, there are less buttons and switches and you dont really control anything but the experience was amazing. At least I'll always have the memories.
I have heard that endeavor is going to get cleand up, some parts replaced and put in the astrotrek building to be used by weekend programs and day long programs. Their research showed that the shuttle sims were everyones favorite part of space camp and they want every program to be able to use them. I was taken on a tour of the TCF during a fundraiser two weeks ago and thats what i was told by a supervisor. But, untill you see it, just treat it as a rumor!
I'm just going on what Vincent said on the front page. Perhaps he could clarify it for us? Still she was kinda a fixture on the TCF. To me at least, being that it was my first sim experience at space camp.
Endeavour was my second space camp simulator but the only one i got to command so it has a special place in my heart as well. I have a question maybe Vincent can answer. I thought they were turning Endeavour and Discovery into simulators for the new deep space moon mars missions for camp and Academy. Have the plans for those missions been abandoned or are they doing it another way?

Hmm... Endeavor's gone, huh? Wow... that was unexpected, to day the least. It was always there, right next to lunch... dang. I don't remember if I ever got to do a mission there... that may have been one of the years where I hated MOCR extremely... and those were the years when I was guaranteed to not get a spot on the shuttle, so who knows. I don't seem to remember going in there...
Haha well I have never actually been in Endeavour as strange as that sounds....but I will still be sad haha I really like ALL orbiters

I hope that someday, I hear about an anomoly where someone has to run from the rest of their crew, jump into Discovery, and attempt to land it all by themselves.
That would make my day.

"Happy New Year! OH WAIT, IT'S NOT THE NEW YEAR YET."
No management forethought. I seriously doubt that anyone really intends to reactivate 'Endeavour' in the other building as it has now been canabalized. Plus in order to reactivate she would have to be completely upgraded with all new hardware and software, something not now in the budget.
Plus they've renamed 'Intrepid' to 'Endeavour.' Sounds like the old motion base is now in long term storage to me.
I was under the impression that was the case, too.
Where do they do all the other missions now?

They were only gutting that simulator while I was there in October, turning it into the Russian Soyuz capsule. They had mentioned adding switches and labels in Russian - did they actually do that? Management also said that they may add a briefing on Russian language, just so people could use the Soyuz and understand it... I imagine it would be quite interesting to decipher the ceryllic (or however it's spelled) characters into something useful.
