Does NASA still have a purpose today?

A place to talk about any and all things not related to Space Camp.

Does NASA still have a purpose today?

Post by stargazer0105 »

Ok, y'all, I'm doing this reasearch paper for my ap english class and my topic is the post topic. any suggestions as for where i could take this or for some good resources. my thesis and topic aren't actually due till next week, so if anyone has any suggestions as to a different topic that might be interesting or how to state my thesis i'd appreciate it. i have a general idea of where i want to go, but not quite sure how to get there, so yeah.

also, i had my topic posted on the board two days ago because we can't duplicate within our class. well, lo and behold today a topic showed up from the other class: human spaceflight. i've always kinda enjoyed being unique in my topics, and can't help feeling a little intruded upon. why do i feel that way though? i mean shouldn't i be glad that someone else has finally taken an interest in space?

I wrote my Space Camp scolarship essay on NASA spin-offs. There is a great website full of resources for that kind of thing, I can send the link to you if you'd like. I also have a wonderfully illustrated book full of spin-off technologies if you need some references or ideas!

Other topics you may think about:
Earth Observation/Studies
Atmospheric Studies
Planetary Exploration
Education
Thousands of jobs
Pushing the edges of technology
Astronomy
and I could think up heaps more if you need them...

NASA Spinoff Website:

http://www.sti.nasa.gov/tto/spinoff.html

All those publications can be found at that website, in way more depth than you could/would ever need.

I can get the name and information about that book this weekend. If you choose another topic just say so and I will go through my 'library' of resources and find some of use to you.

Best of luck.
