Severe Weather
The summer has arrived, and for some that means months of severe weather. Usually, this does not include Alberta, but in recent years our weather has become more dramatic. This year in particular has hit us hard with severe weather warnings once a week or more.
This weekend Edmonton was hit with the worst storm on record. Tornadoes, hail, thunderstorms, and flooding. Here are some pictures from the storm:

It has all cleared up now, but we still get severe thunderstorms at night. For some reason it is insanely hot this week too! Temperatures are as high as 30 degrees Celsius (86 F)!! (That's really hot for here.)
Anyway, I thought I would share those pictures with everyone. My house was not damaged. I hope Laura's house escaped damage as well. West Edmonton Mall got hit pretty bad; damage in the tens of millions of dollars.
PS - Those ice chunks are the hail that fell and later clumped together. The hails ranged from pea- to baseball-size.

That is good to hear. You must live near the airport then. We were out that way at about 6 AM that morning to drop my cousin at the airport. We saw some very suspecting clouds rolling in from the West.
I live just north of Edmonton. A tornado touched down a mere 10 minutes from my house. We did not get as much rain as Edmonton but some of our neighbours had flooded basements.
The thunderstorm last night was spectacular. It must have been hovering near my hosue because there was only a fraction of a second between the lightning and the thunder. I stayed up until 2-something AM to watch it out my window. I love thunderstorms!

Just hope they don't wake you up at 1am for a tornado warning. Being in Hab 2 with smelly little kids is not fun.

So... umm... yeah... does anyone have some warm weather they would like to share with their fellow Canadians? It is the middle of August and today's high is a blistering 10 degrees Celsius!! (That's 50 F for you American folk.) Okay, that's nice and warm and all for October... but August... c'mon! Our usual high for this time is about 20 C or 70 F.
So... generous weather donations are welcome. Direct them to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Mother Nature knows where we are...
