nicknames

Post by 97 »

ok, at least everyone i know at camp has some sort of nickname. so let's list them! what is/are your nickname(s) at camp (even if you don't like it/them) and how did you get it/them?
I'll start:

1. Trinity (apparently I look like her...)Image

2. Ninety-Seven (it's a long story involving rowing, all of North America, and a messenger bag...)

3. The Total Package (because I am.)

I could see that. My nickname Benji was given to me by Ice Girls. I've also been called Hollywood by my hockey team, G.B. by Thunderbug (that's a long story involving beer and a party on the roof), Nat on the Lightning Message Boards because I needed a psedonym, Dougie Howser by several people, and many other odd things.

SpaceCanada - obviously... from everyone at my first week at camp and my second week, counsellors included!

Space or SpaceGirl - from my mates in school

Shorty or Shortie - due to my vertically challenged stature (one of the many reasons people never believe how old I am... although it does have advantages at times)

Jolly Green Giant.... It's a universal thing. I don't know, I'm big, and I'm a nice guy, and apparently I look like the Jolly Green Giant. But I'm not green. I would have to have been exposed to some nuclear waste at a young age to be green.

It's odd how people who've never met before think that.

Oh, and Lollypop. That's just been since kindergarden, because my name's Lalli, pronounced just like lolly. Some people *cough*97*cough* think Lollypop should be my theme song.

Well i've been called a barage of things that i dont nessicarily accept lol and some that i do.

Sherlock: nobody actually calls me this anymore but they used to. I state the obvious. A LOT. lol

Lloyd: lloyd in space...

Variations on my name Lyn: I usually hurt people when they call me these lol. My last name usually brings up some interesting ones too.

I think somebody else called me something else once but i dont remember what.

I honestly can't think of any nicknames right now. Well, I take that back, my grandpa calls me princess but that's because I'm the oldest grandchild on that side of the family. Other than that, I've got nothing.

It's funny how when you come from another country you automatically get dubbed "Canada" or "Australia" or whatever.

At least this time at camp I am going with a friend, so they cannot call just one of us 'Canada', but we may become known as 'Canada 1' and Canada 2', or if someone gets really creative we might be the 'Canadian Girls'. We'll see...

I got called Michigan once by alexis. He said that "Michigan is one big ghetto" lol. I of course argued with him and told him that he was in detroit and that you cant base the entire state on detroit. Yeah... that was a charming story i know. lol

one of the counselors...okay, maybe a few. lol, i know becky did. but they all made fun of my accent. lol, i can't help it! and the sad thing is, is ive only been here like four years. though last year, arlisa told me i had like half a southern, half a minnesotan accent. where two words would be texas, two would be minnesotan and then theres the rest of the sentence.

lol, and then slippy (aka skippy. lol.) called me like something. lol, it was another counselor who used to work there and i looked like her or something. i dont know. he pulled me up to different people who apparently knew this counselor and was like doesnt she look like her? lol.. ah, good times. now if only i could remember the name of the one i looked like. maybe sunshine or something. lol, i cant remember.

I get the northern accent thing all the time too. One person in our group enjoyed that one though i wont name names *cough* SARA *cough*. It odd that the northern accent gets beaten up so much considering that theres only like 10 differnt accents in a group at once but i'm not bitter or anything. lol

I am always told that I do not have an accent. :-( Fortunately enough I can understand most accents, although I laugh when I hear anyone say "y'all"... oh yes... too funny...
