i'm sam and i'm new to the hab1 forum.......but i'm not a newbie to space camp! lol it's my life..well at least nasa is :-) nathalie told me about this place last week when i was on her one week von braun team (i still had school during the first 24 hr week this summer...not cool) but anyway i just wanted to post in a question.....Everyone's been talking about special sessions...what special sessions could you go to?!? I'm such a nasa freak (but in a good way) and i would so love to go to a special session b/c camp's like my second home anymore (well that's the way ppl at home put it) and i would love to be with people who are out of the world nasa freaks like me who devote their lives to space exploration (yeah i've wanted to be an astronaut since i was 2..haha) so anyone that has any info post it here please! thanks

sam the nasa girl

You can find more details on it here.

As for the dates, there's one next week, one in August, and one during the Christmas camp session.

...And Welcome! :D

Oh wow, I like the idea of extra SCUBA, any time! (I hope they pick me.. but whether or not they do 6-hour EDM SCUBA for adults is beyond me.)

They still have Internatioal Camps, both in other countries, and in Huntsville. You can read more about it in the International Camps thread. To attend such a camp you must be chosen (usually by contest) along with another student and a teacher/advisor to represent your country. I believe all the trainees for this year have been chosen. You can try to apply for 2005!

You can actually go to International space camp without having to be picked. There are usually a few spots where anyone could register. A guy on my first team has done it before.

There is usually a 'normal' session running alongside the international session. Anyone can register for the 'normal' session. However, to participate fully in the 'international' programme, I believe you must be attending with a chaperone from your country. I do not know how often the normal and international groups cross paths, but I'm sure it would be quite frequent.

well next year count on me trying to be at international.........heads up at last week's graduation we were told that next year asa might be 2 weeks long instead of 1 week...plus the EDM would be 48 hrs long (but don't quote me on that one...even though i believe it's right)

the scuba for the EDM is amazing.....instead of going to ISS Mocr you go to the tank and don a fake emu (it's sweet) and then you scuba! it's amazing b/c you talk underwater to anyone in mocr that you choose and they tell you what to do EVA! i took my friend who was cato with me..it worked out perfectly

the only thing is that if you do the UAT EVA during the EDM you have to be EVA during the EDM......it's not bad to be EVA..i had so much fun being in mocr...hah my team even made up a mocr song:

(sung to the tune of my girl)
i've got sunshine on a cloudy day
when it's cold outside i've got the month of june
i guess you'd say
what could make me feel this way
MOCR
talkin bout MOCR...MOCR

if anyone goes within the next few weeks and sees nathalie..could you sing the song for her and say it's a gift from Sam :-P thanks!

They'll all be starting their EDM soon. Even though its 24 hours it goes by so fast. By tomorrow afternoon some may be back and then we'll have a bunch of new camp stories.

Special Session 41 Concluded

Post by Wingzero »

Week 41 has officially concluded and many of us are on our way back home if not already home. The week we full of eventful stories and drama. I will say a 24 hour EDM is definitely a long time once you get into it. And for future reference for anyone who does that don't DON"T sleep on the flight deck. It may sound cool but really is not the best idea myself and two other guys ever had. Anywho this past week was great for myself aside from alittle drama haha anywho I'm actually wondering if anyone else who just finished this week would be willing to post your ideas of the 24 EDM. Just say what you thought about it and how you could make it better.... maybe if we compile a good enough list we could send it to like nathalie or tony. but for now its time for a shower and some real food after this week

Regards,

Duo
