plane tics.

plane tics.
hey you guys. just a heads up: i was looking at plane tics and the prices went waaaaay up from about a month ago. so if you are going this summer and don't have them purchased, you might want to do so now in case the prices of airline tickets are correlated with gas prices.

Flights from here haven't gone up much, if any, in the past month. However petrol has jumped to an insane price of 89 cents per litre! It was 70 cents per litre a week ago. (Thank goodness I drive a Honda...)
I am booking my flights today (for August) to avoid a potential rate hike due to increased petrol costs. (I'm sure jet fuel (kerosene) prices go up when ptrol prices do, even though they are two completely different types of fuel...)
Anyway, oil has become more expensive than ever, so I wouldn't doubt a price increase on tickets. 730$ CAD round-trip is expensive enough without an additional fuel tax! Buyer beware!

Fuel surcharges are coming soon. I think they said they would start in the next few weeks.

Oh bugger... my flight price from the travel gent a week ago was 100$ less than it was today! The reason is because the flight is nearly booked up! Now who in the right mind would be booking flights from Houston to Edmonton this far in advace except me? Crazy I say... crazy... I'd be frightened to see what the new cost would be after the new fuel surcharges!

Christmas and Spring break are popular travel times. They increase plane tickets for those dates because they know people will pay for them. It makes sense that your ticket would be cheaper in the summer.
Who in the right mind would travel to some place hot in the hottest months of the year besides us Space Camp people?

If one has lots of time to spare, they can take the bus to Huntsville. Canadians get a flat rate 200$ return ticket anywhere in North America such that we purchse the ticket 14 days in advance. I checked, and Huntsville, Alabama is on the list of Greyhound's destinations. Now, it may take a good 5 or 6 days to get there, but it's dirt cheap! (Price does not include meals, but it's still cheaper than flying.)
I don't have that much time off work, so my over-priced plane tickets will have to do.
