not if your the only one in the groups that sucks at them. I dont play video games so i coudlnt do it and everyone else was amazing, finally by the end i landed on my own but man it waws mucho fustrating.
The thing that drives me most is that people tell me that ill never be an astronaut. My love and passion for space will lead me to new heights, hopefully back to the moon or mars.

yeah i know what you mean by the remarck about people who are good at video games!!! my first day at camp we jumped right into the sims and everyone else had either been to camp before or played flight sim games. I was so lost!!!!! The first time i took off i did great but the second i didnt even get on the runway. needless to say i wasnt the pilot, but my last time there i was and it was so much easier probably because i still remembered what every button did , but the AC sims are the BEST!!! i would much rather do sims than E&E or navy seal ops.

lol, i got sooo frustrated. i almost started crying. my group rocked. we even had a real pilot on our team. so they were dogfighting (?) while landing on a carrier and i was still attempting to land just on land. i got so upset that i just began to go straight down and crash into the ground. lol. they got fed up with restarting me. then i think they talked to my counselor.spacemusician wrote:not if your the only one in the groups that sucks at them. lol... i can identify with feeling like crying!!! The first time at AC i had been up since 3am and was soooo tired! I was like...wow...i suck at this.... oh well
... and i only got to land and take off twice while everyone else did like 5 times because of sim trouble. I too felt like crying!!!...it takes a while to catch on to how to fly in the sims

The one time I actually managed to land the stupid thing, I was not even close to the runway.spacemusician wrote:not if your the only one in the groups that sucks at them. okay, since we all have had majour problems, why do they put such an emphasis on it?!? i mean, they kinda made me feel like a failure (i know, possibly partly my own feelings) cause i couldn't get past speeding up to get off the runway. (that part was fun!)
maybe, if someone would have explained that the wheel brake and the air brake were two different things, they wouldn't have had to restart my sim so many times!

Yeah. My week there were several kids just coming off of AC who were like pros. These were the people who enjoyed shooting me down the one time I was actually going to make it.

yeah , the wheel brake is a complicated thing and even people at AC have problems with them, i know this one counselor who would reach down with his hands to unlock them. and then you have to taxi without locking them again... you really have to fly the sims for at least a full day to get the hang of it... even people who go to AC have problems, these 2 guys tried to land their plane at 600 knots!! It was sad yet somehow very funny!

See, I'm semi-decent, but I always piss people off because I don't follow the unwritten rules.
Like actually waiting to get to the runway before taking off.
I like taking off on the taxiway.

people on my AC team would try to do that, but a counselor would always see, get mad, and reset them. but hey runways are hihgly overrated!

lol, i tried to go around in circles and hit other planes. since they were little kid sims (that i still couldn't even be decent at!) you just went right threw them. it was kinda funny.Drumrollz wrote:I don't follow the unwritten rules.

i also tried to go straight up from my 'parking' space. the counselor got really mad. it was funny. she saw me later on in the week and was like oh yay.
