Return to Flight

Post by Benji »

The Stafford-Covey Return to Flight Task Group is making an independent assessment of NASA's implementation of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board's return to flight recommendations. They issued an interim report today which you can see at ReturnToFlight.org.

Members of NASA's Space Flight Leadership Council, which is charged with the oversight of the agency's Return to Flight efforts, recently moved the target window for the next flight of the Space Shuttle to March 2005, so the next shuttle flight will not be for at least 379 more days. This delay will allow Space Shuttle employees more time to analyze the shuttle and make any necessary improvements.

On STS-114, the post-107 Return to Flight mission, Discovery will carry commander Eileen Collins and a six-person crew.
