Hey guys its been sometime that i posted on the hab. I see theres a lot more people here now. College has been really hard. I am attending ERAU. As for the school the academics are really great and dont believe them when they say that AE is a 4 year course it is actually 4.5 year course it is only a 4 year course if u take at least 17-18 credits per semester which means you pay extra. As for the party scene forget about it. Like they said its a 85% guys. If u need women its not the school to go to if u want to learn it is. Yes i gotta admit that McKay Hall does have that cheap motel feeling becuase simply put McKay is pretty much like a motel. There are benifits to going here: Wings and Waves (air show), Carreer Expo, the beach, and a lot more.
Lovin' College
CNC eh? Ahh I used to do that. Used a Fadal, Hass, and a Bridgeport. The 3 axis are nice, 4 axis are even better but being able to run a 5 axis machine will get you the best pay And don't get me started in the wire EDM's ahhhh.....yeah....The company I once worked for made thermal injection molds for various things including of all the crazy possibilities, fishing lures. lol yeah lots of technology go in to those little critters. Next time you swing by your neighborhood wallyworld, check out the fishing lure section and look for a walmart brand called FLW. I did the CAD and CAM paths for all those.
Learn your N and G code, speeds and feeds, and and make sure you program in a M03 before the tool plunges into the metal;-)
Also for you aerospace hopefulls be careful not to cut your inconel steel to fast. It will temper it and you will never be able to machine it.
lol

You dropped your pocket, your socks are untied, and those are the same clothes you were wearing the day after yesterday.
Aww thats too bad. No negative draft for you then
Yeah those 5-axis will run ya about a quarter of a million new for a good one. But oh my, what a delight they are to use. The one I used was about half the size of an average livingroom. It could hold a tolerance down to about .0001 but all the work we did was guarenteed to .001 . Now the EDM's could go into the millionths of an inch. Pretty crazy how much difference .001 can make. Did you know as far a thermal plastics are concerned, plastic can flow through a gap .002 wide but will stop at .001. That is the thickness of the vent gaps in the mold. If you take an average human hair and split it longways into 3 even strips, one of those strips is the max thickness of the vent on a mold.
The error in the mirror on the hubble was the equivilent of taking a hair, splitting it 50 times longways and one of those pieces was the width of the error.
lol
I ramble but don't we all.

well, now its almost second semester of my senior year. ahhh.
i have applied to FIT and Clarkson for aerospace engineering..well aeronautical at clarkson, and northeastern for physics..and uvm as a safetyschool for physics.. but now i decided that im going to apply to UAH for aerospace engineering too..or physics..i cant decide what i want to do anymore actually, becuase i really really really like physics this year, im in the advanced class and its so much better than regular physics was and my teacher was a physics major and hes like encouraging it but i duno. anyway, i just decided today that im going to apply to UAH so yay. I know its rolling admissions, but how long after they have all your stuff, from your school and stuff, did you find out that you were accepted, for those of you that go there/have been accepted? and did anyone use their credit from ASA on their applications or anything? i didnt say anything about it for the other 4 schools but since its a UAH credit i was wondering if i should put it on there? good luck to everyone thats going through the college application crap. haha.

Re: Contact site
[okie i just got home from florida last night and while i was there i visited embry riddle..and haha it was awful. seriously. i dont know if anyone else has visited there or considered going there, but it really had a cheap motel feel,
Embry Riddle's Florida school is not the only one lol There is another facility in Prescott, AZ and when i visited it a couple years ago it was a lot better than the Florida campus sounds. Its nicley placed right next to an airport I met some of their proffessors for the AE program and they were friendly but it looked like they would be a nightmare as far as grading goes. Lucky for me, even though I graduated like 3 years ago I dont have to worry about picking a school for 2 more years! (w00t)

I can die a happy man if I meet 3 other people who wear pocket protectors.
