no really the caliber of the MAE dept. here is awesome but lol don't come here if you don't want to work way too hard lol or if you're not good at math... but also the opportunities here are way awesome like having cummings research park right across the street

Re: Contact site
Being from tennessee, i wouldn't recommend UT for aerospace... the UTSI is basically dead these days... FIT is definately good for aero though...ApolloXI wrote:I will try to get in FIT, UAH, Uni of Tennesse next year. I have to bring my GPA and ACT up thought to go to FIT

another good engineering school
If you're not picky about location, one really good tech school is Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. That's where I'm at currently, and the way our school works is in order to graduate, you have to complete three projects - a sufficiency in the humanities, an iqp relating science and technology to society, and an mqp in your major. The mqp is a really good experience from what I understand because it gives you real life experience working in your field, as well as giving you connections to people in your field who may later hire you or give you recommedations. The school runs on a quarter system, so the terms are short and the amount of knowledge learned in one quarter is the same as a normal semester at other schools, so it's a tough workload. But the community is great as is the learning and experience you can gain in your field. We just got an actual aerospace engineering major (before it was just a concentration within the Mech E major), and it looks to be a good program. It's something to look at if you're interested.

well, it's a great school, I love it here, and I've only been here two months... It's a tough schedule, but it can be good if you're willing to work (or be a slacker, like everyone else... hehe... We prove it's actually possible to be both simultaneously!)

I have an application to WPI sitting on my desk right now. I really love the school, having spent so much time with Erin up there, I really like the area and even might consider living there one day. She was on the FIRST team 190 at WPI, so I've seen quite a bit of the school, and if i was rich $$, that's probably where I'd go to school. But I'm not, so it's big Blue all the way!!
Go UAH Chargers!!!

we've got tons of cool stuff... Robbert Goddard, father of modern rocketry (which anyone posting to this board should know anyway!), went here and the chemical engineering building is named after him... As far as money - loans and scholarships... that's how we all do it...

we will find out tuesday if we get separate accreditation for the aero program here. I am representing uah in interviewing with ABET, among some other students. They will be here monday for their school visit. Of course, with the seperate accrediation comes some slight changes, like aero would not have to take chem II like mechs., but would have to take physics III. so it may be a little harder but more class offerings could come from it.
